SIRUI 1.25x T2.9 Anamorphic Adapter for Venus Series Lenses with Front Single Focus

Was skeptical at first about buying this thing. But on sale it was definitely worth the investment. It can be soft if you don't adjust your aperture I think it shifts between lenses. That said with 2x squeeze is a gorgeous look. And with some tinkering this is absolutely a useful tool I highly recommend.

It does what it says, but it's heavy AF.... And that's not Autofocus. It's literally an anchor on your lens. I returned it the same day it arrived and just bit the bullet and got a legit anamorphic lens.

This honestly deserves 4.5 stars. The optics are greats and it's built like a tank. It's pretty simple to use as well as long as you line up the red button where they tell you to and set the lens you are putting it on to infinity focus. The character you can get from this adapter when paired with the right lens is absolutely incredible. Especially when using it on a M43 combination. As mentioned earlier it is built like a tank so the weight is the only reason why I wouldn't rate it as 5 stars but this thing is great tool to have in the kit.

I purchased this item on November 25th. Once received I realized the stepped 82-77 adapter was not threaded properly which prohibited me from using the 1.25x attachment. On the 28th after sending an email Blake from customer service sent me a reply and requested that I send an invoice of my amazon order and to take a picture of the 82-77 step in question. So I sent the requested information the same day. December 2, Blake sent another reply requesting a video demonstration of the 82-77 step down ring being applied to my lens. I said no problem here you go as you can see its not threaded so it cant be screwed on. December 6th, I sent a status update request email to Blake inquiring if the step down adapter has been shipped? I received a response that it was shipped and given a tracking number. Also offered an optional discount on another product if I was interested. December 13th, I received the shipment and Blake and the Sirui team sent the WRONG STEP DOWN adapter. I requested a 82-77, but they sent a 82-72! At this point I'm infuriated by the process and this is my first introduction to the Sirui brand. Sure I can purchase a stepped ring somewhere else but I paid over $600 for this product. Therefore, I want everything I paid for in working order. After writing an email expressing my disappointment, Blake replied back on the December 20th with apologies and to send me another ring. But also offered me a 5% discount. I found the 5% laughable after 4 weeks of back n forth for a simple step down ring. So I emailed them back the same day requesting a least 15% discount for my troubles. Their response was only 5% because I already received a 10% discount when I purchased, they said. So the 10%+5%=15% discount. And then Blake ends the email thanks for understanding. I was stunned by that response plus the 10% discount was a Black Friday discount which was store wide and not specifically for me but for competitive market purposes. After giving up and just purchasing a step down ring from another competitor the Sirui 1.25x ana attachment works just fine but the Sirui customer service is terrible. Plus today is January 2nd and I never got the so called discount whatsoever nor did they try again to send me the correct step down. 1 review star for sure.

Initially was confused that this adapter did not line up when screwed on. But there is a red button that lets you swing the inner glass to line up with whatever lens you attach it to. This is something you need to eyeball so just be aware. Seems to work fine now.

I like the image that it gives for sure! But you need to set it up on a tripod where the camera is not moving because there are some weird warps that happens in the image when moving with it.

I use the Sirui Saturn lenses and the Venus 100mm and 150mm anamorphic lenses. They have a 1.6x squeeze which renders 2.40 aspect ratio using the full-frame sensor. They are magnificently sharp; even by cinema scale screen standards. I decided to try the 1.25x adapter in hopes of adding the extra horizontal squeeze but still in a 2.40 timeline (3840 x 1600) in hopes of getting that gorgeous feature film character and more stretched bokeh. It will do those two things nicely, but...at an unacceptable cost of terribly compromised focus resolution. I had hoped that rumors of this were unfounded due to imprecise setting of the taking lens' infinity focus. But despite my precision, the lens fails a resolution chart terribly. UPDATE 3 August 2026 WITH PHOTOS: I gave a second adapter a try, but it has the same poor focus. This is not useable for small screens, much less large screens. See the two comparison photos provided shot with the wonderful Sirui Venus 150mm. This is wide open at T2.9. The difference is shocking. The focus does not change when stopping down. Sirui, your Saturn and Venus lenses are wonderful. Please consider 2X full-frame cinema lenses. No auto-focus, just sharp focusing manual cinema lenses like Saturn and Venus. Those of us using 2.40 can then gain the character the extra squeeze renders, with the extra image in the wings removed in Resolve with the 2.40 timeline resolution, and keep the glorious high resolution like Saturn and Venus have.

As someone who doesn’t shoot anamorphic this was a great way to have a play and keep the glass I already have

Un bel investissement pour transformer n'importe quelle optique orientée photo, en une vraie optique cinéma. Image étirée en CinémaScope, reflets sur les sources directes. Attention, vignettage important quand on approche les grands angles, en-dessous d'une optique équivalent 35mm FF.

Did not arrive, SIRUI lies about the stock availability and time to ship. They probably dont have stock and if they do it will arrive potentially months past estimated arrival date.

Great addition to the bag. It’s heavy. Be prepared to use lens support.
