THE ACME Solid Brass Tugboat Whistle No 536.5 Nickel Plated

I bought this for a distinctive (and fun) way to caution folks that my recumbent bike was coming up on them. Yes, this sounds exactly like a steam train whistle - you do have to get the hang of it but that doesn't take long. For a bike you'll need to jury rig a holster from a water bottle (this is not something you will hang around your neck by any means). Been using it for a few years, a few drops, and a LOT of smiles.

Great for stage effect when needed, but pricey.

It is very loud without being shrill and annoying like a regular whistle. It really does sound like a train. Wish it had a place to attach a lanyard though...

This is NOT an Acme 534 Train Whistle. Too small and does not have the Acme name or model number on it anywhere. At best it is the same size as the Acme 536.5 whistle, about 6.5" overall length (see pic). About half the size of a real Acme 534 (see pic with a 534 whistle on left, approximately 12" in length). The box that it came in had hand made stickers with the wrong model number printed on it (see pic). This is more like a toy than an instrument to be used in a concert setting or pit orchestra.

I expected a much larger whistle. I was trying to replace one that was stolen at my school. For that price it was a ripoff.

This whistle is good for any Purdue Boilermaker fan that wants to make a statement at a tailgate. Great sound, Great construction. You will never buy a wood whistle again.

Our chime choir loves to play train songs for nursing home residents. We're having a ball!

Expensive for what you get.
