Life Extension Super K, 90 softgels (Pack of 3)

Return customer, great product, now improved. I have been using this full spectrum Super K vitamin for well over a year now, after experimenting with others, and it has become my preferred formula and brand. The improvement comes from the K7 formula. It used to be 200 mcg of the K7 menaqionone and now is 100 mcg. The former 200 mcg of menaquinone (the form used by most brands) was fine, but included the CIS & TRANS forms. While TRANS is superior to CIS there was no way to tell what percent of the more active, bio-available TRANS menaquinone was included. But now, with an updated mfg. process, only the TRANS form is present, providing 100% of the TRANS form, eliminating the unnecessary CIS form. Thus, only 100 mcg is required. The product is now purer and you get more for your money for an already superior Full Spectrum Vitamin K supplement. Highly recommended for quality and dosage, Vitamin K2 is necessary (among other benefits) for keeping calcium out of arteries (which can lead to hardening of same) and other unwanted organs and for transporting it into bones where it belongs. Works well in a symbiotic relationship with D3 which is why you'll find many supplement suppliers combining them in a single tablet or capsule. This is good as far as it goes, but they often skimp a tad on the K2 dosage, the combination of K4 and K7 offered (if indeed they provide both of them), and you can't be sure how much of their K7 from menaquinone is in the TRANS form, for as stated above most K7 sold today as menaquinone is a blend of CIS & TRANS forms with the TRANS being the much lower percentage (making the percentage of the TRANS K7 only the supplier's guess). Life Extension provides not only a full spectrum Vitamin K supplement (many don't), but with this improved formula is a solid choice and worth every penny.

For almost 15 years I was focused on homeopathic medicines, plus a healthy diet (which had a huge positive impact on my health issues). I don't normally write more than 2 sentences for my reviews but in this case I felt my review could be helpful for others. My calcium score test was high. I knew I had to make some dietary changes and starting supplementing with Super K which promotes calcium absorption in the bones and out of the arteries. I have mild aortic stenosis and have an annual test measuring any changes and over the last 10 years my "numbers" have remained virtually unchanged. My cardiologist said this is unusual as there is always a worsening of the condition and eventually leading to needing a valve replacement. I can't say if anyone else will have the same results but it's worth a try. You have to think long term. Take vitamin D3 with the K to aid in the absorption of calcium.

This was a reorder as I have found these appear to be as advertised. Have experienced no ill affects, no capsule failures, nothing negative at all. I did not experience any short term benefits from taking these, nor did I expect any. If there are any long term benefits, it will be years before I know. This is the basis for my 4 star rating.

At this point, having not opened any of the bottles, the order is just as advertised. I will reevaluate the actual vitamins in the future after I finish my other brand vitamin. This brand was chosen due to its containing the "trans-chemical form" of the vitamin rather than a mixture of "cis/trans-chemical form" of the vitamin.

When I was first diagnosed with low platelets (around 80K in 2005), and knew that the Normal Range is 140K - 400K. Therefore, being in the medical field, I know Vitamin K builds platelets, thus is not included in most multivitamins for people age 50+ (because those people usually need to take Aspirin 81 mg daily, to keep their blood thin). Well, I have the opposite problem, thus need to take 2 or 3 of these Life Extension softgels daily to boost my Platelets and maintain them within range. Of course, most doctors don't believe in nutritional supplements because they're not regulated by the FDA. But, my Hematologist said the efficacy of this Life Extension Super K is exactly what my body needs. For treatment of my Thrombocytopenia (low platelets), one softgel was not enough, therefore, the Hematologist recommended I take 2 softgels...and sure enough, two taken orally every day is perfect for my condition. Years later, when I wanted an elective surgery, the surgeon said he needed my platelets to be at 160K before he'd perform the procedure, I told him I would increase the Super K to 3 softgels qd... And, within two weeks, my platelets had climbed from 147 to 162, thanks to taking 3 softgels daily during that two-week period.. Because this product medically works for me, and my Hematologist is very pleased with it, I'm elated.

This review was attached to Super K, but should have been attached to Ortho Digestzyme *** I was diagnosed with osteoporosis this year and don’t want to take medication for it, want to manage it with diet and excercise. My medical tests showed that I’m not absorbing nutrients well. I read “Dr. Lani’s No-Nonsense Bone Health Guide”. The chapter on gut health was an eye opener and one of the many things she recommends is to take an HCI supplement. A family member recommended that I try Ortho Digestzyme. Now, there’s no way to tell what effect it has on my bone health — I don’t feel any different and can’t see any difference. I just wait for my next bone density scan. But in the last couple years I’ve also been experiencing quite a bit of hair loss. My thyroid doc said that my hair loss isn’t thyroid-related, and told me that healthy hair begins in the gut. OK, so I’m getting multiple messages that health begins in the gut. Within a month of starting this product, my hair starting growing back, which makes me believe that, yes, I am now absorbing nutrients better. So, I’m quite pleased.
