Question 1

Do they make an electric motor for this or for their 6 quart ice cream maker? I have a bad back and am unable to use a hand crank ice cream maker.

Accepted Answer

Hello, At the moment, we do not have an electric option for the 8 qt. There is a motor in the testing phase, but has not been released yet.

Question 2

What is a safe way to power this with an old gas engine?

Accepted Answer

Hello, This may take a little tinkering.
You will need to obtain an RPM of ideally 45-50 RPM. You cannot put a pulley directly on the end where the crank is. There is no support for this kind of side torque.
You need: The freezer, a love joy coupling, an A frame or similar support with bearing on top, shaft connecting love joy coupling to a pulley, a belt tightener for a clutch or a hand operated clutch, and a belt to your engine.

Question 3

Can you use the electric motor for this ice cream freezer if you upgrade after initial purchase ?

Accepted Answer

I don’t think I have seen an electric motor for the 8qt ice cream mixer. I know they make a air operated motor for it that runs off of compressed air but I’m thinking that motor is about $400.I’ve had my 8qt Hand crank model for about 3 years. I usually make 8 to 10 runs in it per year and usually I do most of the cranking myself. It’s not really a problem to do it but if you had shoulder problems it may be. It’s a great ice cream maker. Quality of it is excellent.

Question 4

How is an ice cream maker worth over $400? I don't understand.

Accepted Answer

That is a good question. Many ice cream makers on Amazon are in the $100 range - or less.
Ice cream freezers 50 years ago were made in America with the intention that you would actually use it more than 2 times a year for 3 years until you throw it in the bin because it took to much room up in your moving truck.

After being frustrated with the declining quality of what use to be good products. Immergood set out to make a freezer in America with Stainless Steel hardware and a good Insulated Tub that doesn't leak water the first time you use it. Rather than trying to make it cheap, (there are plenty of those available if that is what you want) Immergood set out to build a product for you to use many times a year for the next 40+ years.

The 8 quart is a large size, suited best for folks who are making ice cream for more than one household. The 6 quart size is the most popular.
