From the moment Star Wars burst onto the screen in 1977, audiences have been in equal parts fascinated and appalled by the half-man/half-machine hybrid Darth Vader . In 1999, creator George Lucas began the story of how Anakin Skywalker grew up to train as a Jedi under Obi-Wan Kenobi, found love with the Queen of Naboo, Padmé Amidala, before turning to the dark side of his nature and becoming more machine than man. After driving the development of nascent digital technology , George Lucas perceived how he could create new creatures and new worlds on a grander scale than ever before. He created the first digital blockbuster , and met fierce resistance when he pushed for widespread digital cameras, sets, characters, and projection – all of which are now used throughout the industry. He essentially popularized the modern way of making movies . Made with the full cooperation of George Lucas and Lucasfilm , this second volume covers the making of the prequel trilogy — Episode I The Phantom Menace , Episode II Attack of the Clones , and Episode III Revenge of the Sith — and features exclusive interviews with Lucas and his collaborators . The book is profusely illustrated with script pages , production documents , concept art , storyboards , on-set photography , stills , and posters . Review: I'm not going to say "from a galaxy far, far away" - You will appreciate the prequels so much more. A great look into the creative process that went into making these great films. Review: The Star Wars encyclopedia! - Tons and tons of information. Great and informative publication for card collectors.

Very historical book
If you love the movies and want a highly detailed narrative of everyday filming, this is the book for you. It has a lot of wonderful photos and George Lucas’s detailed narrative of filming. I had to read it by sections because there is a lot of detail which can overwhelming, but it gives fans a first hand look into the making and production of the prequels.

I’ll keep this book
This one is a keeper. I loved it as a gift. Pictures and stories I had never read anywhere before. And insights from the people who created Star Wars.

Pure catnip for prequel fans
You get the full birth of the prequel trilogy in one massive, insanely detailed volume: from early Anakin ideas to Revenge of the Sith’s lava-soaked finale, packed with concept art, storyboards, script pages, and on-set photos that make you want to rewatch everything immediately. The whole thing is put together with George Lucas and Lucasfilm on board, so it reads like an official deep dive rather than a random fan compilation. If you grew up with the prequels or just love seeing how huge films actually get made, this is the Star Wars book that actually earns the word “definitive.” R
