Quality product , sturdy and solid and if used properly should last a long time. I have used a lot of wood handled tools and ran a lot of crews using wood handles 90 percent of broken handles I've seen were from abusing the tool . They are not prybars ! The fork worked very well for turning my garden this spring and I expect a long life for the fork . I would recommend this product.

The fork is a bit on the short side, but once you get used to it, it’s actually quite easy to maneuver. The handle is made of sturdy, hard wood. The fork itself is strong and can probably take a bit of abuse, though it may bend over time if you’re using it to dig at rocks and such. It’s also quite useful for turning compost, picking up mulch, and weeding.

UPDATE--Bought on 12/10/2015 w/4 star but today the fork broke off in light soil I "punch" holes for ironite around Sago palms in my front and back yards. I have used this product for years and not had problems. I hope I just bought a runt in the litter but very disappointed how easy the brake happened since rarely used in winter. I bought my first Truper spading fork some 10 plus years ago. I use the heavy duty forks to "open up" my front beds and back yard flower beds in spring. In early summer I use the forks to spear deep holes around drip line of my trees; azaleas; jasmine and my 40 year old sago's planted around my home to place ironite and small amounts of fertilizer. This way is much cheaper than buying the fertilizer blocks sold for the same purpose and use a smaller amount several times a year. The Truper tough handle is great when rain quickly falls and I forgot where propped up the the spading fork. The top handle does make a great perch for the birds and those pesky furry tail tree rodents when I do forget in the yard when I come in for a rest. One of my best garden shed Also, the price is good vs. the big box home and outdoor retailers. Now if I can get my 2 cf garden mulch-------

This fork is great. Seems well made and sturdy. I used it to dig up and divide some perennials which have a very dense root structure. It was so easy.

I'm glad that I picked this Truper 30293 Tru Tough Spading Fork, 4-Tine, D-Handle, 30-Inch. It is as sturdy as another that mysteriously disappeared from my toolshed. I don't expect to have any breakage problems with it, based upon my experience with it to date. Look, you can break anything. This is a spading fork, not a crowbar. Use it within its design limits--which are broad--and be happy with it. Clean after use. Don't leave outside in the weather. You'll pass your cared-for tools on to your son or daughter someday if you'll just take care of them.

I've always had good luck with Truper products. I bought two spading forks to dig up Dahlias on our farm. These spading forks were life savers and worked great while digging up 500 plus Dahlia plants.

The wt. & the ht. fit my stature much better. I had bought another one b4 getting this one. It was way too heavy and too tall to use comfortably. The craftsmanship was very good, and was the perfect height for me. I stand 5'4.

I haven't used the spade fork yet. The loss of 1 star is based on the condition the item arrived. There are several places where the coating is damaged. I'm concerned that this will allow it to rust to prematurely. There are also several places where the wood is gauged. I may have to sand the one in the handle. I'm concerned about the structural integrity of the wood and, how easily it may continue to get to get damaged. I am an avid gardener. My tools get used. Cosmetic issues are not a concern for me. We'll have to see how it holds up after a day in the garden....

Reasonably sturdy and so far it’s working as expected without the metal bending. For the price I’m happy

Poor quality welding on the handle, fork metal itself very bendy. I think there are better available for price, not a patch on the spear and Jackson it was replacing
