BST-1 High Power Pro Tactile Bass Shaker 50 Watts RMS, 4 Ohms Impedance - Turn Any Surface into a Speaker System - Generates Subwoofer Lows

I bought two of this and I’m using one for a flight sim rig and the other for sim racing. What I can say is for flight sims this really is eye opening and I can never fly without it again. For flight sims I use SimHaptic software which tranforms telemetry data like G-forces, wing loading, etc., into sound waves. Run those into an audio amp to drive these and you get immersion and you feel what the plane is doing. Since SimHaptic has support for almost any flight simulation telemetry it works well with Falcon BMS, DCS, and IL2 Great Battles. Heck, my WinCtrl software only works on DCS among those three and its effects aren’t really that informational. No contest. No, it doesn’t make my flight stick have FFB but having these bass shakers kinda fools me that I am getting FFB. Like very subtle stick inputs make you feel something, very awesome. For sim racing I use SimHub and like in flight sims it provides immersive vibrations but I feel like it’s not as informational. For that the steering wheel is still king. Or maybe I haven’t set my effects well yet, idk. Anyway, good buy.

This is awesome. Always loved flying and at age 71 I built a flight simulator. The BK brand is never in stock so I purchased this and an amplifier from Amazon for 1/3 the price of the “other brand”. Mounted it under my seat, dialing in the optimal frequency on my amp and power it up. This unit is excellent. Great low frequency feedback. For a flight simulator setup this is perfect. Should work well with racing and home theater also. Great price, performance and delivery. Easy hookup also

The Setup: I’ve integrated five Dayton Audio BST-1 High Power Pro Tactile Bass Shakers into my sim racing rig, and the difference is night and day. I added the Dayton Audio BST-1 bass shaker to my sim racing rig, and it completely changed the experience. Once it’s mounted to the frame and dialed in, you can feel every curb, gear shift, engine vibration, and road texture in a way that audio alone just can’t replicate. The build quality is solid and it delivers a lot of power without feeling sloppy or rattly. When paired with the right amp and software, the feedback is strong, clean, and very detailed. It adds realism without being distracting, and it’s especially noticeable under braking, acceleration, and when hitting rumble strips. Setup took a little time to tune properly, but once it’s configured, it’s incredibly consistent and reliable. SUMMARY The BST-1 is not a necessity for a home theater, but boy does it add something to the overall theater experience. I don't think I will ever go back to watching movies w/o them turned on. I think "Bass Shaker" although techincally is what it does, to me seems to have a negative tone to it. Properly setup think of it as a subwoofer extension. They seem to be built well, and have lots of heat sinks to get rid of the heat when driven hard. CONFIGURATION: As great as these are, they need to be installed and setup properly. The BST-1 needs to be anchored very securely to a flat wood surface for maximum performance and to eliminate rattles. Much like the configuration of all of the speakers in your home theater it is important that everything is balanced properly. If you look at these as an extension to your subwoofer like your subwoofer is an extension using bass management to your center / L/R/Surround / heights etc. The BST-1 is rated at 10-80 hz, but will make sounds at higher frequency's so it is important to have the signal crossed over (the install guide says 80hz), I have mine at 80hz w/ the sub crossover and it seems fine. So when very low frequency's occur in movie sound tracks your sub is doing what it can, but these add that extra low freq (even below human hearing). Its the really low frequencies is where these really shine to "extend" the overall low frequency impact that your home theater has. I also find that I can run the subwoofer (and the overall theater) at a lower output and with the BST-1. The experience is more enjoyable and better at the lower sound levels plus the BST-1. There are other "bass shakers" out there but they are more expensive and I would have a hard time to imagine that they would be that much better. INSTALL DETAILS (For those who want to know) I am using (3) in a sectional with a wood frame (see pics). The sectional sits on a concreate floor. These are 4 ohms each I have (2) wired in series for total 8 ohm load to one of the amp channels and (1) wired to the other amp channel. I then paned the amp output to the speakers in series to balance out the power and level. I am using a 100w per channel amp dedicated to these (an old 2 channel receiver) so I can shut them off (and adjust the volume) / balance if needed. The input to the amp is the sub output of the home theater receiver (that handles my other speakers) sub crossed over at 120 hz. spilt to the L/R channels of the dedicated amp. For video games, we up the level, for movies we turn it down so it just "hits" when it adds to the movie and does not distract normally. I found that I needed to tighten some of the parts on the sectional to avoid vibrations at the very lowest frequencies. Update 2-23-22 - Still going strong after about 2 years of use at least 1 / week. Updated crossover for the Sub and BST-1 from 120hz down to 80 hz. My Front/Surround/Ceiling all crossed over at 80 hz now. I think they (The BST-1) work better crossed over at 80 vs 120hz. Still a great investment in my opinion. The power of this unit is so awesome! I have it hooked up to the back of my gaming chair, and it makes a world of difference for immersion! I've given it 4 stars because you need to pair it with a good amp to really get the most out of it, but other than that, I love it, and I'm looking to get another!

My first foray into these transducers was when I sold my VR headset in anticipation of the new model coming out. Missing the immersion and playing flat screen games, I was thinking, what can I do? I remembered years ago a friend showing me this thing called a Buttkicker he had in his home theater setup so I looked into that. Too expensive. I stumbled across these guys. I initially bought one. I removed the bottom of my office chair, cut a piece of plywood, got some longer bolts and bolted it all back together. Now I had a solid place to mount this. I got a cheap Nobsound 100w amp with an adjustable low pass filter. I plugged it into an extra usb sound card on my computer, ran my audio through Voicemeter Banana, and was blown away. I don’t think I could ever play games without it again. At half volume this thing shakes the chair like crazy. It adds so much immersion! Love it! Fast forward, the new Vr headset came out, I missed the shaker when playing standing VR. I began figuring out how I would make my own bass transducer vest. I initially was going to go with the small Dayton pucks. I bought a four pack and one was dead on arrival. I still wired them up and they have an impressive shake but I didn’t like the flimsy wires and just really like these bigger Dayton transducers I can plug my own wires into. I bought a second one. I ran them parallel, pulling a 2 ohm load from my amp, which it can handle and puts out its full 100 watts at 2 ohms. I initially just threw them into a cheap chest bag as a proof of concept with a long speaker wire running to my amp. It worked like I hoped but I wanted to not be tied to a cord for room scale wireless VR. I got a cheap swat tactical vest, the kind with the insertable armor. I cut a 1x12 piece of wood to fit in front and back. Then I screwed these transducers to it front and back. I got a power wheels 18v Ridgid battery adapter and a plug that fits my Nobsound amp. The batteries put out 19-20v which is perfect for my amp. I wired it all together and now I have a mobile transducer bass vest, powered by my drill batteries. I plug it into a headphone splitter on my VR headset. Wow!! This thing is heavy. 15lbs plus. But it is incredible to wear while playing games. One of these is enough to shake a couch, two of these is overkill but oh boy, will it kick you hard. These transducer are heavy, well built, and just amazing to play around with. Have fun with them!

Bought it for Simracing. Mounted it under my secret labs chair until i can get a simrig. It is awesome. so much more detail when racing now. Used zip ties and the foam from the box to keep it secure and rattle free. Paired it with the nobsound amp and it is truly an upgrade to your sim racing setup. Love the quick disconnect on it as well. I bought some quick disconnects to go with the install but didn't need as these disconnect fairly easy. Works for me as I am using a desk setup and need to break it down daily after racing. Quick and easy!

I have had a pair of these installed in my sofa ( actually, more of just stuffing them in the cushions) for well over a year now and I haven't looked back since. All you need to hook these up to a small, inexpensive bass amp and you connect that amp to the bass output of your AV receiver. Tune the bass levels according to taste and you are good to go. Some people will tell you that a good bass(from a subwoofer) setup in any home theatre should be felt and not heard. These bass shakers will complement your setup no matter how good your subwoofer is. It just completes the LFE setup. Every shot or explosion is felt, giving a more realistic experience. On the end of the spectrum, if you don't want to create unnecessary friction with your neighbors, you can watch your movies with the volume down and the bass shakers cranked up. This gives you the experience minus the overpowering volume of your setup and without waking up your neighbors. Of course, there's gotta be a downside right? If not tuned properly, the bass from the soundtrack can be felt and can make the entire movie watching less realistic. Especially if you are reaally particular, time is needed to tune the bass levels for these shakers. All in all, they are relatively affordable ( watch for price drops especially here in amazon) but a good investment to better up your home theatre.

Sim racers listen up. If you have the ability to grab a pair of these and run them with your set up, you will never race without them again! I run in VR and with two of these mounted to the hip areas on my seat, every bump and rumble stip is felt. My biggest surprise was when I gained pace from being able to feel the tires breaking loose very early on in the slide. Honestly, total game changer. Snag an Amp that can properly power these (make sure your Amp power supply is at least 5A and 30ish Volts. I know they are only 50watts each but I was getting multiple amps cutting out. Was not the wattage but the current flow. 5A power supply and you will be good with the 100-150watt Amp

Im driving my Dayton Audio bass shaker bolted to my drum throne and it is fantastic. Amazing tech to get it small enough to fix it to the seat as well. I also bought a 5 metre xlr to rca lead to get a kick signal from the stage box. Best thumper setup yet!
