I Works great
Deer Out is by far the best deer deterrent I have used and I have tried plenty. The biggest plus is that Deer OUT doesn't smell like rotten meat. I used to use a product that was NASTY smelling. Deer Out is made with a lot of natural ingredients that smell like things that deer just don't like the taste of, like peppermint and that's mainly what it smells like. I was happy to find a gallon size on Amazon for much less than I was paying for a gallons worth of the 32oz size our local hardware store carries. The thing is, and I think this is why some people leave poorer reviews, is that I don't care what product you use, it will wear off. It says it stays on, even in the rain, and it's true, it does... What it doesn't do, is stay on rain after rain or forever. Nothing does. When I put deer out on ALL of my flowers, trees, shrubs etc. that deer are attracted to, they leave them alone. Period. The problem is that you don't know how long it will keep them away. When I first started using it, I would spray it on and it would work and I would forget about it, but then after a time it didn't work and I discovered that because of course the deer got to some of my plants.. I believe the label says that it works up to a month.. That may be in some cases, but I think it totally depends on weather conditions, or if the smell of the plant gets stronger than the smell of the Deer Out, or maybe just how desperate the deer are for food. In order for it to work well for you, it is just a good idea to reapply it regularly. I went to a 2 week interval and this seemed to be the best for my surroundings. In the later summer I had to be more diligent because the woods and meadows and fields were turning brown due to lack of water and food for the deer gets scarce, making my watered gardens (and planters on my deck) that more desirable. Trust me, it's not my favorite thing to have to spend 2 hours going around and spraying my plants and yes it takes some time to do it. There's no getting out of it if you want to keep deer from eating all of your flowers and Yes, I suppose you could consider this a spendy product, but in reality, I probably used at most a gallon and a half in 10 months. To me, Deer Out is worth the time and the price to protect the considerable investment I have put in to my gardens and the flower baskets I plant each year. I've been very happy with it, or I wouldn't have taken the time to recommend it to others.. Also, if you have a large area, make sure you get the concentrate and mix it yourself. It's cheaper that way.

The salad bar is closed ๐ฆ
We live in an area where deer literally treat our yard like a salad bar with our hostas, hydrangeas, you name it. We have been using Deer Out for over 10 years and it is the real deal. What we've learned: โข Start spraying the second your hostas pop up in spring โ don't wait for damage โข Reapply every 2 weeks on hostas since new unsprayed growth comes up fast โข After heavy rain, reapply as soon as possible - don't let it go โข Spray on a regular schedule and your gardens will stay intact all season long How we mix it: Fill a 1-gallon pump sprayer with water, then add 13 oz of Deer Out concentrate. Way more cost effective than the smaller sizes for large areas. Bonus: It's made from all-natural ingredients - pet safe, safe for edible plants and it doesn't smell like something died in your garden! We've also found it works on rabbits too. Worth every penny to protect what you've spent years

It works!! And it doesnโt smell bad.
This stuff really works. I have a large garden with heavy deer traffic everyday but if I apply this religiously the deer stay away. I can grow tulips, roses, lilies, hosta and more successfully. The key is to apply very regularly. And the scent is minty, not vile like some other brands.

Works great and smells good!
This stuff is awesome. I can tell which plants I sprayed and which ones I didn't as the deer and rabbits treat my garden like a buffet. Sticks to the plant and lasts for weeks. Also has a pleasant mint smell unlike others that smell like vomit.

Works but there are caveats
I've been using Deer Out for a few years now and can say that it does genuinely work and will help to give your garden a chance against the incessant deer but you shouldn't expect this to solve the issue entirely as the deer will still taste test the plants on an all too frequent basis in hopes of catching your plants without that minty goodness applied and, if your neighborhood is densely populated with deer like mine is, that would equate to a lot of deer doing a lot of testing all over the garden which means it's still being eaten to a degree. Oddly, I've experienced a very small portion of deer that just don't seem to care about the deterring taste of Deer Out or are possibly just hungry enough to ignore it as I've had numerous plants eaten to the ground within a day or two of being liberally sprayed from all angles. It should be noted that it must be reapplied after rains and I've even had to reapply on a more frequent basis due to my sprinklers, which adds up quick especially as this product is incredibly expensive. Prior to using this product, the deer would eat my entire garden to the ground without fail. Using Deer Out has helped a lot in that now I have a full grown flowering garden but I realistically expect to have deer check most of the plants out, nibble all over the place, and completely demolish at least one of their favorite plants per month. It doesn't prevent 100% of the issue but it greatly helps. The only other issue to consider is the total price compared to how much it would cost to just simply replace plants in your garden throughout the year. I never thought that future me would keep spare hostas growing in pots so that I could rotate them in to my garden on a monthly basis but here I am. I've resorted to using protective netting over certain parts of the garden so that I don't have to constantly spray every single plant and that's worked quite well but I can't realistically cover the entire garden with netting, as is, thus the need for Deer Out.
