I like this new and improved version!
I had the previous version of the Greenworks pole hedge cutter since 2017. It worked well until this year when the mechanical drive finally gave out. I gave it lots of use and have no complaints on the service life of the unit. The new unit looks similar but the function is better. The old unit had a 3 button safety switch sequence (one too many). This unit only has 2 which makes it easier to use.It cuts well, angles when I need it to, battery life is good. I'm very happy with it's performance.

Great pole hedge trimmer
I had several criteria and although I love my Ego chainsaw.... Their implementation of the pole hedge trimmer was simply expensive. So I looked for an alternative and decided on this 40v GreenWorks...Higher voltage, head cab be angled, and reasonable weight....I pulled the trigger and bought it.I already have two hedge trimmers...A gas powered Stihl that is awesome, but is heavy and honestly good for heavier applications such as cutting a hedge in half. The other is a Troy Bilt gas multi tool...The hedge trimmer on that one has traditional smaller openings and overall no matter what attachment I use...The balance of the tool is awful. So after spending a good 20-30 minutes cutting and shaping an overgrown hedge, I can honestly say that the Stihl will be used on a rare occasion and the Troy Bilt is going up for sale this week. This GreenWorks unit did a great job. Low noise and overall has good balance. Yes my arms were a bit tired, but, unlike gas, you can rest the battery pack handle end against your hip and give your arms some assistance. Cutting wise, it chomped through 1/2" branches without issue and even though the battery is only a 2.0ah it had no problem allowing me to finish the job on one charge. This one is not extendable and has a fixed length...At first I was questioning my purchase, but the the big plastic connector in the center that plugs the two halves together actually was a perfect place to hold it without fighting it.I never thought I would buy battery powered equipment....But besides my Mulwaukee tools I use in the garage and home, the use of the lithium ion batteries for gardening equipment has made them viable for sure.

Well made and a great value, but heavy due to motor position
Needed to replace my old Shinadaiwa M231 multi-tool + hedge trimmer. Decided I didn’t want to spend +$450 on Ego multi-tool w/hedge trimmer and went for this Greenworks hedge trimmer for <$150. The tool is well made but they put the motor on the base of the trim head, so the trimmer is heavy in your hands since you are lifting the motor as you maneuver the trimmer head. But the trimmer works great, I used it to trim and shape my citrus trees and it worked well. The battery didn’t run out and I was pleased with its performance. If I was a younger and a bit stronger in the arms, it would be perfect. I’m keeping it because I only use it occasionally and it’s a great value. Have to take off a star for the weight balance.

Great product at a great price!
I have had a Greenworks leaf and garden blower for several years and it works great. I ordered the pole hedge trimmer because I have large holly hedges in front of my house that are a pain to trim with regular trimmers. Right out of the box, all you have to do is slip the poles together and you're ready to go. I trimmed about half of my hedges in just a few minutes. It was great not to have to drag out the extension cord and also stand back from the prickly holly bushes. I had an appointment so I will finish the job tomorrow. A big plus is that the batteries on the trimmer and the blower are interchangeable. Like a lot of people said, it is a bit on the heavy side but it is very solid and well made and the blades are much better than on the old corded trimmer I have. The four year warranty is a big plus. The trimmer head adjusts to 7 different angels so you can trim in a position that is comfortable. The only thing I would ad is maybe a shoulder strap due to the weight but it is really not so heavy as to be unusable. I am a senior citizen and really did not feel any discomfort. I have an irrigation system so my hedges grow quickly and need trimming often. This trimmer will do the job for me! I gave it five stars for battery life based on my 40V blower which has great battery life after several years of almost daily use.

Unbalanced and heavy.
Ordered this as a replacement for my previous Greenworks 24v model that worked like a charm for about eight years. The old unit was lightweight, balanced, and easily maneuverable. This new "updated" version is too long, incredibly off-balance, and heavy. As soon as I picked it up, I new I wasn't going to be able to use this for long stretches at a time. It is overly long with no way to retract or shorten the length, and the design forces you to grip and hold the unit from the far end of the pole; meanwhile the vast majority of the weight is on the opposite end, in the head/cutting unit. Imagine picking up a long swimming pool pole that has a 10 pound weight in the net, but you're picking it up by the very tail-end of the pole. Awkward, uncomfortable, and an instant strain on the back, neck, shoulder, and bicep. It is also worth noting that the actual product is different and significantly longer than the version pictured here on Amazon and on the Greenworks website. What you will get will be a much longer pole than the version in the photos. If it were 2 or 2 1/2 feet shorter, the balance might be a bit better, but this current version is a design fail. Returned. Very disappointing Greenworks.

Efficient and Easy to Use
It cuts through thick branches effortlessly and the 20" blade is perfect for reaching high spots. The battery lasts long enough to complete my whole yard.
