It would stand the heat, but the fire would smoke it up

If you first apply por-15's metal prep, wait, rinse & dry, do you still need to apply kbs zinc primer before using this?

I am looking to seal the stained masonry inside the fireplace, we use an electric heater, but is this safe for future use as a woodburning fireplace?
