Paint Protection Film - Temporary Roll-On Automotive Exterior Protector from Rocks, Scratch and Chips - Coating Applies White, Dries Clear 16oz Kit

We got this when we were picking up our new Model Y out of state with the goal of keeping the car chip free and pristine until we were home and could get in for a proper PPF install. I first considered the TRACK ARMOUR temp ppf tape, but ultimately went with this because looked much easier to apply and get everything covered and I was rather concerned about adhesive residue some experienced. This Road Warrior product worked great. It took longer to apply that I was anticipating, but that was more me being overly optimistic of how fast I could paint multiple coats with an apx 2.5" roller, and while the panel says 65+ weather the best the day could muster was 55 so probably slowed down the dry time. But it worked well, went on easily, and taking off wasn't as bad as I feared, and there's things I could have done better in prep that would have made it even better. Do not underestimate how thick you should get it for 1. I thought I was, but there were numerous spots I realized I was thinner than I should have gone (go thin, but 3+ coats at least). For parts where the body panels meet (e.g. the front fascia with front quarter panel) I would probably cover those joints with low stick painter's tape first as it was tricky to get this temp film off. As others have mentioned go thicker on the edges which will make the initial starting peel easier. Go slow. Pull off at a sharp angle (not 90 deg). DO use water if that wasn't clear - I found a pump sprayer to be very effective at getting enough water to slip under the film and lift it without being too much pressure and tearing it up. DO note that as it is reactive to water that you cannot drive in the rain. I was hoping to leave on longer while waiting for our PPF appointment, but, alas, a rainshower (and not a heavy one at that) had little chunks of this flying off the car. If you know the weather is going to rain don't bother as it will not work (I knew this going in, just got caught out when it started). All in all it works great for what it's intended for - Temporary protection. Honestly I think it's a little pricey (my 16 oz kit was just enough to do nose, hood, half quarter panel on each side, the side mirrors, and A pillars around windshield for 2-3 coats, and honestly I wish I could have gone over with at least one more coat to make removal that much better), but I just KNOW with my luck that 500mi drive would have been fraught with paint peril had I not put it on (Murphy's law being what it is). I just saw they now have an $8 coupon (of course) - with that I'd have gotten to 2 16oz kits and been better covered and had some left over. Oh, I also wouldn't use the little tray - I found the design of the tray a bit wasteful personally (e.g. the channels on the side catch product and prevents you from using it). If I were at home I would have just grabbed a normal painter's tray

I was skeptical even though I did a lot of research on this product as I had never heard of it and I used to track my cars frequently. However, I was nothing short of amazed. I purchased an e90 M3 from a buddy of mine and I wanted to keep the paint protected from rock chips on the drive from Philadelphia to Tampa and I can say that this did the job for 90% of the trip. I rolled this on the car in about 65 degree weather outside. It does seem to drip so be careful but that can be washed off pavement. My suggestion is go thin and do many coats, like we all hear when we are painting something. Let the product fully dry before the next coat, which shouldn't be more than 10 minutes if you did it thin. I did about two-three coats in prime spaces like the front bumper and some of the hood. You can see in the images what it looks like when it is drying, almost like Elmer's glue, and then the matte look it gives once dry. I did not tape any edges, but I did try to make them a little thicker. Now this held up perfectly through day 1 and most of day 2. However, we were driving into Florida as Eta was getting close so we hit some serious rain. This product is most definitely water soluble but not in the way you may think. As we were driving, the water started to eat away at sections and the adhesion and the product started to bubble up and flap and then re-adhere. We pulled over as soon as we saw this and peeled the product off just in case. This is the reason I dropped one star on the adhesion, due to the way this started to peel off. That being said the rain made it extremely easy to remove, less than 5 minutes, in giant sections. The last picture represents what happened with the rain before I peeled it all off. I would most definitely recommend this product if you need to protect a car on a long road trip, or even a track event. I caution that if it rains you may need to peel it off. It is a bit pricey so I don't think it would be something I would put on for every track day or every single road trip, but if they are fairly close together I would leave it on the car. I actually loved the matte look it gave the car and I might consider doing a full matte PPF to replicate the style.

Applied this on our brand new car before a 2,400 mile road trip. TL/DR, would definitely buy again despite a few minor gripes. Application and removal - The product applied with the included roller easily (see tips). I found it was (mostly) easy to remove many weeks later, I just followed their directions and sprayed with water first to soften. A pressure washer basically (with the appropriate fan tip!) took almost all it off in a hurry. Only a few spots were a pain to remove the “leftovers.” One bottle was more than enough to cover the frontend of our full-size Infiniti SUV. Protection - It definitely offered more than adequate protection from bugs and rock chips during our drive, so I’m pleased with the purchase. The company is very up front about rain potentially impacting it’s adhesion to paint, so I cringed as we drove through 5-6 hours of steady rain at highway speed. Despite thinking we would loose it all, I was pleasantly surprised that it really mostly just softened and turned milky white. We only lost a few small sections on the leading edges where, presumably, the airflow is more intense. This is where the protection aspect of it became apparent - I did find a few minor indentations from debris on the lower bumper where it flew off in the rain. The rainstorm happened early into our trip and we went through tons of gravelly construction after. That said, all the areas still covered were 100% perfect underneath - very pleased! Tips - 1. Don’t tape off the panel gaps with thin painter’s taps thinking it’ll be easier to remove (ask me how I know). It doesn’t work as it pulls off the good sections with it - fortunately I only tried two sections like this. Just roll over everything with paint, it comes out of the gaps easily enough. 2. DON’T get it on polycarbonate headlights. It didn’t ruin anything, it was just a royal pain to remove. 3. If you’re going on a long trip, save some in the bottle or get the two bottle kit and keep it for touch ups in case you hit a lot of rain. If they could just figure out a rain-proof formula, they would have THE perfect product for temporary paint protection. Until then, this is the next best thing.

Preparing a trip from Florida to Pennsylvania I was concerned my 2018 BMW front end would get ruined by love bugs and road debris. After reading all the comments left by others I was still skeptical but decided to give it a try. The bottle says a little goes a long way, but I wanted maximum protection and I used three coats. Application was relatively easy as I applied it directly in the Florida sun. Drying time was quick, and the finish made me wonder what I did to my new car. During day one of the trip stopping at several rest stops the product held up well, and there were a umber of bugs attached. During the tail end of day one, it began to rain. The pictures show the effect on the product as it rained overnight while the car was parked. I wanted to see how easy it was to remove, so I pealed off the roof covering and was surprised how easy it came off leaving only very tiny pieces attached to a rubber lining in the convertible gutter. Day two I drove from Virginia to Pennsylvania in a four hour driving thunderstorm. When I arrived at my destination, a good deal of the product had dissolved and what was left was easily removed by hand (although it did seep into the rings around the parking sensors but that too was easily removed). When it finally stopped raining I was impressed, no paint loss, no sticky residue and the product performed as advertised. As a bra is not available for my vehicle, this will be my go-to product for future trips and Florida’s love bug season. Quite impressed by its performance!

I decided to use this product in lieu of Track Armour for an upcoming track day. I have a new vinyl wrap on my car and I wanted to protect it somewhat from the FOD that gets kicked up on race tracks and the highway going to the race track. It applied easily enough and I applied it on thick like the directions said in order to peel it off more easily. However, when I attempted to peel it off within 24 hours of returning home from the track using the directions supplied with the product, it did not peel off consistently and I ended up having to spend 3 hours getting the final remnants off of my vinyl wrap. Perhaps it works better on paint? Note that you can't take your fingernail or plastic wedge to remove the final remnants off of vinyl wrap or you will gauge, scratch, or indent your wrap. Because of this I will not be using this product on my vehicle again and will go back to Track Armour. On a good note, it did protect my vehicle at the areas that I used it.

I wanted to like it, but no. The product description clearly states product does not work in rainy conditions. Kudos for being up front. As a practical matter, however, it is challenging to make a road trip without running into a rain shower. Once it begins to rain, you sometimes cannot just pull over and peel it off, especially at night. It’s not that it just comes off, it disintegrates. When it starts to disintegrate, which is quickly at highway speed, it makes a giant mess. Think dozens of mega spiderwebs. By the time you can stop to peel it, product has re-hardened all over the car. A month later, I am still finding pieces of material. If you live in the desert Southwest, a good product. Does apply easily, seems to work, and cheaper than vinyl film...

I bought this for use on track days with my car. It performs exactly as advertised, putting an effective layer of temporary protection on surfaces where it’s applied. It goes on easily and comes off easily with water. Just follow the instructions. Once applied, it dries clear. It does take a minimum of two layers to be effective and three is even better. It protected my car against rubber and debris thrown up by other cars on the track. When I removed the Road Warrior Plus Paint Protection Film, the bits of rubber and track debris came right off with it. I won’t do future track days without it. I think this would also be very good for off road protection against gravel, sand, and small rocks. As the manufacturer points out, this is not designed for use in wet or rainy weather.

Highly recommend! This stuff is great! Put on before a 2 week road trip and it saved my paint and provided for quick clean up of my car. I recommend that you use around 3-4 coats of the stuff. Dries pretty clear and you would not be able to tell from a distance. Better than most of the other stuff out there. It does get dirty but that is the point. It keeps all that nasty stuff off your cars paint. Removal was pretty easy. Just use a high pressure sprayer and a little bit of time and it peals right off. I would definitely buy this product again. It is a hidden gem for temporary paint protection On a side note, I would swear this is Elmer's Glue with a little something extra. It has a similar texture and smell. Not complaining, just found it amusing.
