Product: Audio Pipe AP-BTM-1200 Unboxing: The package contained the bluetooth unit, wiring harness with fuse, some mounting hardware, and an instructions sheet. Installation: This device was super easy to install. Color coded wires are easily identifiable. Mounted using hardware. RCA’s plug right in. Dislikes: Bluetooth always on? Likes: Amazing connectivity. Superb sound quality. Opinion: I should have done this sooner. I decided to add this unit to my stereo to try to eliminate some negative feedback issues that I have been having with my factory radio in my vehicle. Rather than having to purchase a brand new headunit and install it, I was able to bypass the issue all together with this small device. I would highly recommend reading the instructions first, I thought I was smarter than that, but I wasn’t. I assumed that the blue wire was a remote in, but it is actually a remote out. I actually hooked it up to the out of my DSP as seen in one of the photos, and fortunately I did read the instructions before I powered it on, CRISIS averted. It does appear that the bluetooth is always on, which I doubt would ever be an issue since I drive my car daily so the battery is always charging. As shown in the video, the unit connects to my phone in seconds, and activate by play, as seen with the red LED lighting up. I am shocked at the level of improvement in sound quality and overall loudness from simply adding this bluetooth RCA device over the quality of my factory radio. I am optimistic about the longevity of this device. Compared to the costs associated with a brand new headunit, buying this device was an absolute steal. The device works great and is an amazing value. I use it everyday and I would highly recommend it to anyone looking for a way to easily add bluetooth capability to their stereos.

Bought this for my boat, I only run and amp to my speakers, no head unit, and use my phone as the audio source. I was afraid the Bluetooth would send a deminished signal making the audio not as loud as having my phone directly connected but thanks not the case - it’s louder, so much so I had to turn the gain down on the amp. So far I love it and it works great.

I had the same item from different manufacturer and burned it up with an incorrect power source. This was the replacement . Seems to work fine. range seems pretty good . If I go outside my steel building it will start to cut out. But, if I stay inside it it stays linked. Time will tell on reliability . I use it on an old home stereo in my garage that doesn't have Bluetooth to connect my phone tunes to. I power it with a regulated 12 V power supply.

Complete fail. Was a great, affordable option for my restoration project to stealthily add BT capabilities and modern tech to my old Mustang. Worked great first 3 times we tested, put the car all together feeling confident … Very short lived as it worked another few times after dash setup was completed and then died about 2 days after. Checked and replaced the supplied inline fuse that came with the unit and troubleshot all connections, fuses, and amps on an old head unit I had in the shop and all failures lead back to this BT unit. It failed to turn on amps or play ball with the rest of the system- now I’ve got a few hours tacked to my restoration of un-installing the dash to replace this POS unit. I’ve been installing stereo setups for a very long time with decades of experience in multiple cars with different configurations and this was a huge disappointment…Not happy.

Excellent bluetooth capabilities. No buttons to push means you can hide it somewhere inaccessible without hassle. Pairing works great and the sound quality is up to par. I'm using this in an older car which doesn't have any native bluetooth support, and for that it works great. I did remove one star, from what is otherwise an excellent product. Reason being, the instructions that come with it direct you to connect it to an "always on" power feed from your car's battery. This means it will never turn off. If the bluetooth module doesn't ever turn off, not only is it constantly draining your car's battery, but your phone will never disconnect from it. If you came home, parked your car, and entered your house, your phone will remain connected. Instead, you should connect the power leads to an "ACC" (accessory) circuit, which is only powered when the car is turned on, and goes dark once it's not. The other negative is the trigger mechanism. I would have used this had I been able, but it's not well thought out. The idea is that any audio signal will send voltage to a trigger circuit which can dynamically power things like amplifiers, turning them off/on as needed. Well, good idea, but the trigger-time is nearly instant. Even something like the few seconds of silence between tracks will cause it to power down any accessories, only to power them back on again when the next track starts. Had they incorporated a 60 second "cool down" timer with this feature, it would be useful. As is, it is not. Despite the negatives listed, as long as you understand those limitations, and they don't bother your use-case, then it's a fine product. I'd buy it again, I just wish they'd thought through the docs and the trigger function a bit more. Still, it's perfectly useful and I'd buy it again.

Instantly reconnects to my iphone each time the unit is powered on. I think some of the concerns about connecting the iphone happen with people connecting multiple phones maybe as it wants to connect each time to the last phone it was connected to. For me, I connected this once via the iphone (SE 2.0) setup and now when I power the bluetooth unit and hit play on iphone, the music plays through the stereo system immediately. This is exactly what I wanted. I also got one of those FM converters you install in-line with the car radio antenna and connected this bluetooth unit as the input to that. Skip the FM converter kind that plug in your power outlet and broadcast over air if you want it all hidden. This combo is all hidden, can have a separate power switch added if you want it separately powered, and it works perfect to allow use of my original car radio and speakers with very little trouble and minimal hardware to add behind the dash.

It does what it’s supposed to do but apparently has a flaw across every one of these units according to the seller. You have to keep your phone at 75% volume or less or else it will distort no matter what the gain on your amp or volume on your stereo is at. Overall I’m satisfied I’m just kind of annoyed as I haven’t experienced this issue with any other adapters. If you can live with the flaw then go ahead and buy this, if not I’d look elsewhere.
