So This Is Ever After is a sweet, simple and magical story of a bunch of adorable yet messy-in-their-own-little-ways people.They are:~ Arek who is the Chosen One, the fuller of the prophecy and the one who we majorly follow.~ Bethany is the group's bard, the magical and charismatic one who has the ability to talk in or out of any and every situation.~ Sionna is a fearless fighter whose sleek, deadly and funny.~ Lila, who's the rouge and has a past as mysterious as her motivations to stay in the group. Oh, and she also loves stealing shiny things!~ Rion's a knight and is big, bulky and the eldest of the group even though he behaves like the youngest.~ Finally, there's Matt who is not only Arek's best friend and secret crush but also the mage, the wizard who performs spells and is a reader!The group has recently helped Arek fulfil a prophecy and they now find themselves in a situation that they don't know how to solve! While they choose to stay and see what they can do, it isn't easy when there are magical laws and soul-binding practices that need to be taken care of.I am usually not a fan of books with too many characters unless it's done well, and here I felt even though some side characters get more things to do compared to others, they still all shine through at the end. I can distinctly recall each of the characters that are written here. My favourite is Lila, who is friends with a crow!!The writing is absolutely eloquent. And that was honestly expected from FT Lukens! The world-building is lush, lyrical and not very unnecessarily detailed. This is exactly the book I want and didn’t know I needed. So This is Ever After is a queer YA fantasy romcom that delivers the right amount of charm and angst that just hit me in the feels. Arek has completed the prophecy and defeated the evil king. Now what? He suddenly finds himself king, in a throne he never wanted, and also apparently must find his soulmate before he turns 18 (in 3 months) or else he dies. What comes next are a series of laughable and hilarious attempts at wooing his friends who originally joined him on his prophecy-fulfilling journey when the person he truly wants is just unreachably right there beside him.FT Lukens has somehow written a funny, quirky romantic comedy in a high fantasy setting, during what should have already been the happily ever after. I appreciated how queer it is and how unbound the story is by gender norms. I loved Arek and Matt, and how they are completely blinded by their love for each other. Normally, I would find this type of pining and obliviousness annoying, but FT Lukens made it completely charming and (shall I say it?) swoon-worthy. Around them are a cast of characters that are just as lovable and delightful. This book just brought me a lot of joy.So This is Ever After is a joyful and heartfelt fantasy romcom that will make you swoon.

Just a good read and a good subversion of all the tropes

I absolutely loved this book. The group of heroes reminds me of my friends and just how comical we are together. It's very relatable and oh, the sarcasm is excellent.This book brings the characters to life at the end of an epic quest to save the world, but it still has twists and turns. After all, what do you do after killing the evil king and taking his crown?
