There are actually only ever 6 treasure chests on the board at one time, the additional two treasure chests are used to change the difficulty of the game. If you are able to change the contents of the treasure chests to match the contents needed for each level of difficulty, then you would only need six chests. However if you want a dedicated chest for each type of treasure, bonus or obstacle, then eight would be perfect!
