This timer is branded with QY Toys (presumably for QiYi, which is a prominent brand of speed cubes) . It is an excellent timer for those who are into speed cubing, but don't feel the need to blow twice the money on a Speedstacks Stackmat timer. The design of this timer looks just like the G4 timer and will be adequate for recording time and getting your speedcuber used to the solve technique using a timer.Mind you, the WCA regulations ONLY accepts the Stackmat timer for official competitions, and you'll more likely run into the G5 timer, whose design looks slightly different, accounting for the 4-touchpads used in cup stacking. However, for those who are still speedcubing enthusiasts without having sponsorship money, lol, this timer is great.The timer also does NOT come with AAA batteries (you need 2 of them), nor a cube mat (most people can use a large mousepad). But it DOES include a 3.5 to 3.5 mm aux connector cord (for connecting to a computer or a large format timer display). By comparison, the Stackmat sometimes comes bundled with a mat, but usually doesn't include batteries or an aux cord (it needs the less common 1.5 to 3.5 mm aux cord) either. This QY Toys timer does have round slots on the underside for attaching to a dedicated cubing mat. It also can save 3 of your solve times, but I don't know how helpful that would really be, considering even hobbyist speed cubers often complete dozens of solves a day. Better to plug into a website like Ruwix to save multiple solve times AND calculate your average for you.

My son has been cubing for a few years, so when I saw this product I had to have him try it. His verdict, “it comes with a cable that hooks up to the computer, which is nice, but it does not come with preinstalled batteries like other Speedstacks timers do. I like that it takes normal aux cable instead of that weird one that speedstacks use.”There you have it! Seems like it works and it’s a very nice value for the price.
