We needed something on our back deck, which is south-facing and ALWAYS roasting hot. This keeps it shady for the hottest part of the day. We (my husband, tall man, and me, average height woman), put it together in about six hours, not including time spent reading and interpreting the minimal-text instructions beforehand.This thing, I will say, is incredibly solid (we have it drilled into our deck) and watertight on the top. No signs of wear so far after 3 months in the summer heat and storms. There's enough coverage that we can sit under it when it's raining, even if it's breezy. We have it flush with our house (the screen door *just* clears under it). The top panels are not completely dark, they are indeed a bit translucent. The biggest plus for this gazebo is that it's permanent and we don't have to worry about taking down or replacing a cloth top, or it getting toppled by wind.The biggest downside I can think of right now is with the translucent top, you can see the bird turds on it when the sun is shining. Also, it's not gorgeous, and clashes with our house/porch really badly (not taking any stars off though). However, we now have what effectively is a whole new room.-disclaimer: i don't think you're supposed to drill the feet into wood decking, but there it is.

After 3 years, the coating started bubbling and filling with water. Had to scrape it off to get the water out. Not worth the money for 3 years. I live is East TN so it's not a climate issue.

I cannot say enough how happy I am with this gazebo. We installed on a second-floor deck. It is like a dream come true. It was easy assembly with all parts meticulously labeled and packed. It only took about 5 hours to put together and would have been faster if we were not limited in space on our second-floor deck. 5 stars all the way!
