Best customer service ever
Best customer service ever. The lamp works great and is easy to set up and control, including other C bulbs. Originally the lamp didn't work because I have an Iphone, but the update was released two days after the lamp, but I still couldn't connect my lamp to the app. Customer service tried to get it to work, but it still wouldn't connect. They said they'd check stuff on their end since everything on my end was working. The representative called me back (how often does that happen) to let me know that some lamp identification stuff hadn't been added to their cloud and weren't recognized by their system, but it was all fixed now. On top of the call back, they're sending a $75 starter pack of bulbs for the inconvenience.

Smart functionality doesn't work. Won't get past setup even after device replacement. Avoid purchasing.
Unfortunately, this simply will not work as intended. Its app and setup is designed very poorly, and customer service was no help.I ordered this as a Christmas gift for my mom along with the four light bulb packs and after trying three different phones and lots of frustration, I was finally able to set it up. Recently, we unplugged the lamp to move it to a different location and that ended its smart life, as it would no longer connect to the network and it wouldn't recognize her phone anymore, either. It became "a brick." After my mom spent (literally) over a month of back-and-forth with customer service with no results, GE's support simply stopped communicating with her. Amazon was kind enough to send a replacement light even though we were past the return period due to GE's poor service.The replacement lamp did not work, either. These Sol lights are simply bad. Even this new replacement (presumably manufactured later on in the product life cycle since it was sent five months after the first) does not work. This lamp is like most other smart devices where you connect to the wifi network of the device and then connect to your home network to bridge the connection and get the device onto your home wifi. With both lamps, I was able to connect to the device wifi and that is as far as setup would go. After connecting to the device's wifi and attempting to bridge the connection, the setup will spin on the "initializing" portion of setup and never progress from there.I am extremely well-versed in smart home products (I own 10+ smart light buls, 8 smart outlets, a few smart switches, and three Echo devices, so I know what I am doing) and this simply will not work. You can't get past the initial setup phase. GE usually produces good products, but after my experience of not being able to set up not one but TWO of these lamps makes me confident in saying it's a just a very poorly-designed product that was also developed poorly. Especially at the price this lamp isn't worth the frustration. I'm very disappointed and now it's just about a $150 lamp that never gets turned on because the default setting is an extremely bright cool white.

CbyGE Sol - Cool design, great SMART Lamp that acts as hub for other CbyGE products with all the benefits of Alexa
I received my Sol about one week ago and am extremely satisfied. We also have an Echo in the house and the Sol is a great way to extend Alexa capabilities to the house while having a very useful feature of an energy efficient SMART lamp with a modern industrial design. I was pleased to learn that the Sol also acts as a hub for other CbyGE products so it sets up your house for future expansion into the CbyGE family. I have setup the Sol in our family room where we generally keep the color at Soft White or Warm White which makes it ideal for watching movies or TV in the evening. We also connected the Sol to our Dish cable box so now we can change the TV channels by simply talking to the Sol unit by saying “Alexa tune tv to channel”. The speaker is pretty good…will not replace your surround sound speakers but you can use it to stream Amazon music and can fill up a room. Customer service indicated support for other streaming music services such as Pandora, Spotify and Apple music is coming in a future update. The design of the Lamp is modern and has served as a good conversation piece when we have guests at the house. The clock feature and timer countdown are nice touches. One drawback is that it does not have Bluetooth so you cannot stream music from your phone to the Sol. However, we find ourselves using the Amazon Music service which really eliminates the need to stream from a phone. Overall a great product that eliminates the need for a hub in the future to easily expand using other CbyGE products and adds most of the features of an Amazon Echo while adding a SMART Lamp to its feature set.

I bought two of these. One for my night stand and one for my wife's. I believe there was an issue with the original firmware because they would constantly disconnect from wifi and were pretty much useless other than just tapping the base to turn them on. The clock feature is way too bright to use in the bedroom. It's a cool feature if you want to use this somewhere else, but in the bedroom it's too much. I really like the ability to adjust the brightness and the color temp. There is a feature that allows you to schedule when the light comes on which helps me get out of bed in the morning. We keep ours muted all the time so I haven't used the alexa function with them. We have an Echo in the bathroom and a dot on the dresser. One thing I wish I could do was tie the two of them together in the app. I'd like the ability for them to act as one or as individuals. Overall it's being used as a nerdy lamp that turns on in the morning to wake me up. None of the other features are useful to us.

DO NOT BUY
It is a waste of time. Purchased it from WAGJAG at a discounted price.Could not get it connected to the Internet. Contacted Customer Service (CS) First you have to download an App. Couldn't even create an account with the App. CS had to create my account on his end and I opened it. Still couldn't get it connected to the Internet, even though I had the proper Router as required. We worked on it for the whole afternoon. CS felt it had been an older model, but once we got in it, he would update the specs. Still we could not get in it.Got Bless CS "Tim" for spending all that time. He was suppose to call back yesterday after consulting his tech guys but hasn't, and I don't blame him.Do youself a favour - Forget it.Now I am going to try to get a Credit from WAGJAG.

En México no es compatible con la app de Alexa
Le doy dos estrellas porque la publicidad en la pagina de Amazon mx nos dice que sirve con alexa y de más, pero no es así del todo.Si se puede configurar pero necesitas o un teléfono android para bajar la app de GE, que no se encuentra en la app store de Apple México, o una cuenta de este servicio con domicilio en USA. Ya que logras bajar la app para configurarla, y logras conectarte and stuff, que la verdad esta medio mala la app, al querer agregar la lampara a la app de Alexa, sorpresa! No existe ese skill en la app de México tampoco. La razón puede ser que no la han desarrollado en español, así que es imposible configurar con cuentas de nuestro país. Es por eso que le doy dos estrellas.Pero, la lampara no está mal, tiene buenos materiales, yo la logré configurar y como la compré a buen precio no la devolví, se ve muy bien, da buena luz, se puede prender y apagar sin problemas ya que tiene interruptor para ello. Pero si usted no sabe como moverse mucho para bajar apps y no sabe ingles creo que mejor hay que buscar otras opciones. A la lampara si le podría dar unas 4 estrellas por lo que es.

DISCOUNTINUED PRODUCT - Do not buy not supported by app
This product was discontinued by GE - as a result you cannot connect this through the CYNC app - this is a crucial step to give the SOL wifi connectivity to use Alexa and all the other smart features. Since it can't be connected via the app and can't be setup its a glorified light that is not "smart" and becomes annoying due to random lights going around since setup is not complete

Se tiene que instalar con vpn
La app es difícil de configurar desde México, tras varios intentos pude usar Alexa instalando un vpn, todas los comandos deben ser en inglés.Espero puedan modificar todo para que sea compatible en México.

Luz de calidad
Muy buena calidad de lámpara pero no he podido sincronizar, tampoco existe ninguna aplicación de c by ge, no se puede con alexa y tampoco con Google home.
