//Apr 2026 Update// Since posting the original review, I upgraded to a Ryzen 9 5950X and an RTX 5060 Ti 16GB, paired with a Corsair CX650M 650W PSU to really push this board. The previous setup was much lighter. Power delivery has been excellent, the VRMs are still stellar, and the system has remained completely stable under the heavier load. I even added a second Samsung M.2. Zero regrets here. This thing flat-out delivers. //original post// Solid board with clean layout, reliable power delivery, and no nonsense in BIOS navigation. BIOS 3621 includes AGESA 1.2.0.E, but heads-up: - System Info shows a build date of Jan 13, 2025 - ASUS site lists release date as April 7, 2025 This isn’t a bug—it’s standard firmware practice. The BIOS was compiled in January, validated internally, and released publicly in April. If you're checking microcode or AGESA lineage, this timestamp mismatch might trip you up. Just know: - Microcode 0x10800014 = AGESA 1.2.0.E - No update needed unless ASUS drops a newer AGESA Powers a Ryzen 7 5700G, ASRock RX 6600XT, 64GB Crucial Pro CL22 RAM, and a Samsung M.2. I used an adapter for the 19-pin-to-E_USBC, but ended up going back to the 19-pin for the USB-A ports since I use those more in the front. My M4 Pro MacBook Pro powers the USB-C stuff now, so it's all good. The heatsink on the chipset is a nice touch, just wish a Frozr or something would have been on the M.2. But, in an NZXT H9 Flow non-RGB with a Thermaltake Peerless Assassin 120 SE v3 CPU cooler, this thing is definitely cooled. The motherboard sensor is a constant 22C until I start pushing some heavy Docker stuff, and even when I ran a few benchmarks, it barely went above 27, and this was a constant benchmark run, I expected it to hit 30 easy. It did not. That speaks to its VRMs and for that it gets 5-stars. I am incredibly pleased with the VRM performance and holding its own on heavy loads and benchmarking. I pushed it hard, it said, Nah, I'm cool. Ridiculous value. No Gen2 header, no Frozr or equivalent for the M.2, but those VRMs are legit. No regrets on this, it delivers in spades. This will last me to a Zen 7 upgrade without question.

TBH, I picked this board mainly to pair with my Ryzen 5, and the build experience was better than expected. The biggest highlight has to be the integrated Wi-Fi and Bluetooth. It saved me from the hassle of running cables at home; the signal is rock solid, and it saved me the cost of an extra network card—10/10, worth it! The BIOS is super user-friendly, allowing even a beginner builder to easily set up XMP. No cap. Tbh, the port selection is kinda basic, but it’s def sufficient for daily use. The PCIe 4.0 support gives me peace of mind for future SSD upgrades. If your priority is stability, ease of use, and a no-fuss setup, this M-ATX board is a top-tier value pick among B550s. Highly recommended for stable performance-seekers like me! Goated board.

Good motherboard, fits my case perfectly and has all the ports you need and 2 fan headers. Good bios ui too.

Overall this is a very good motherboard for the price, but it does have a few deficiencies. If you are using a budget board like this, you're probably not using premium ASUS RGB so the fact that it only has one 3-pin header at the bottom of the board is pretty lame. There are 2 4-pin RGB ports if you decide to buy compatible fans or a compatible controller. The WIFI and Bluetooth drivers are a mess and I had to spend a lot of time getting them to work. The latest drivers on the support website don't work and you have to go back to older WHQL drivers for both but even then the Bluetooth is sketchy. There are newer drivers that work but they aren't on the ASUS website for this board. I can't complain too much because B550 is outdated but still, it was a pain.

NOTICE: When installing the audio and network drivers, you may need to use the CD included since that is how the drivers were able to be successfully installed for those components. Downloading from the website did not work, and the CD installer will auto detect and mark what drivers are installed. Great motherboard particularly if you get it sub $90. It has BT 5+ and comes with WIFI6 chip and an antenna which works tremendous compared to my external Wifi 6 adapter. No USB-C and only one HDMI port along with older video ports, but the trade offs are that it comes with Bluetooth and Wifi 6. It does have PCIE4 x16 and (1)PCIE4 x4 m.2 along with a PCIE3 x4 m.2. Highly recommend it if you want a B550 chipset micro-atx board with built in bluetooth and wifi 6 modules.

I purchased this motherboard and an extended warranty. I installed it myself as a part of my PC upgrade for Windows 11. The video output failed after about two months. That's when the fun started. I contacted ASUS and explained the problem with a support person. After several hours of trying this and that, the support person agreed with me that the motherboard had failed. I requested a replacement. They requested a deposit which was more than I actually paid for the motherboard. I agreed and sent the deposit. They sent me a replacement motherboard, and I returned the failed component per their instructions. That was three months ago. I've contacted ASUS multiple times trying to get my deposit back. I have yet to get the deposit back. Every time I contact them, they tell me that they are going to elevate my case. I've tired of contacting them and getting the same old run around. I won't be buying anything else from ASUS!

Worked fine for nearly a year when it suddenly gave up while I was using it. Unable to get ASUS support

I paired this with an AMD 4600G CPU for an HTPC. Easy assembly, works like it should, and the price was excellent considering it has onboard Wi-Fi 6 and Bluetooth. The BIOS supports the 4600G out of the box. I've only had it for one day but no complaints so far and I'm not expecting any issues.

Update from the last time. So after reading the manual, it turns out that one of the M.2 slots are shared with the PCIE slot. So after changing slots, it boots with video now. One thing I dislike about this motherboard is the lack of information on how many PCIE lanes are available and what’s shared. Oh well. at least it’s working. Beep….. Beeeeeeb beep beep beep. ??? Never heard as post beep and a fail beep code ??? Now I need to wait to borrow a version of the CPU with graphics to see if flashing the BIOS will help. Not sure why it doesn’t switch to GPU PCIE if it fails to boot off onboard video. I only buy ASUS mobos and this is the first time I experienced something like this, when wasn’t able to get things working even after all parts are on the compatibility list. My last few motherboards had an automatic usb recovery bios port. Not sure why they stopped. I see why AMD has a CPU loaner program to let customers borrow one to flash their motherboard BIOS. It’s pronounced A sUS like peg“ASUS” mythical winged horse. Just ask the company. ..
