I love it better then Escort because it works as good and better in a lot of cases, like the long distance signal is better then the Escort and a better value for your buck. I would buy from this seller again.

Ngl that m f do read pretty far to the point where you're well informed before they know (tho laser is still laser tho) the K band auto mute tends to forget after a while but I think it’s still pretty reliable …BUT I HIGHLY RECOMMEND TO REMOVE FROM WINDOW IF OUTSIDE AIR IS ABOVE 85°FThis prolly has contributed to the k-band auto mute issue ngl.In terms of sound level it does let you vary it tho keep it below 8 as it's quite loud on start up.For battery it does turn off after a while when not in use tho it does stay on for about an hour maybe less so just turn it off up top when leaving.I highly recommend this and will be getting this for all of my cars.Sorry for punctuation

The Uniden R8 is the best radar detector I've bought. I've had good experiences with other brands but this one has the most features and best accuracy. It can detect Ka bands 1+miles to avoid speed traps. There's only a few cons people should be aware:1. No native app for Android - use Highway Detector (works like a charm)2. Overly sensitive to different radio signals like storefront automatic door sensors - will need to adjust your radar settings through the software (which can be a bit complicated if you don't know what you're doing) and/or mark everywhere if you are using it in the city3. Updating the firmware requires you to connect to a computerIt's an expensive unit but well worth it. It probably saved me a few speeding tickets so it's paid for itself.

Everything about this latest top of the line release by Uniden seizes upon the latest tech and screams “watch this” demonstrating intuitive behaviors memorizing distracting non necessary radar emitting devices stopping the false alerts. Its range is rated at 3 miles so unless you’re driving 95 without brakes downhill in the Rockies you’ll not have to worry about having plenty of response time when urgency demands it. I highly recommend this high dollar marvel to anyone wanting the best available the Uniden R8 model.

This is my first radar detector. It gets a lot of false k band alerts when I’m driving on the highway. Not sure if it’s normal or not. Will keep an eye on it.

Amazon never published my last review on this R8.I have owned this detector for over 2 years and it detects Ka well but does NOT detect laser! Total BS! I have passed quite a few HP using laser and it never detected them one time and some even went after other drivers so I know they were on. I didn't get tickets because I was never speeding but it should've alerted me they were there. Sometimes people don't pay full attention to their speed especially when going with the flow of traffic. I got pulled over one time while going with the flow 6mph over while another car ahead of me passed him 5-10mph faster and asked why I was singled out and he said it's random because they can't pull over everyone and he doesn't watch every car.K-band is now used for blind spot detection so it goes off all the time and you can't turn off K-band.The manual states you can get updates from Uniden but I haven't been able to find out how or find a single update available ever. The link printed in the manual doesn't exist and there is nothing on Uniden's website.So, one good thing about radar detectors is being alerted of police presence because they often harass people without just cause, especially young people, which I have not been for years.For example, I have a HOV/Express Lane Pass but a HP pulled me over and lectured me until he saw the pass so, he just harassed me and detained me without cause and wasted my time and made me late for work, when he could have followed me until the light showed green or yellow. He did let me go with a cerbal warning. Other times I had been pulled over for the license plate light being out on every car I've owned but they have never been out.FYI, police records show every ticket or incident you have ever had, even from 30 years ago. The record only drops from the DMV record and supposedly insurance records (I dont believe that) but not your personal record. I believe I have been harassed based on old records they see from running plates and finding things from 20-30yrs ago. Your insurance rates are also partly determined by credit rating.
