[Upgraded] BlueStars 279816 Dryer Thermal Cut-off Kit for Whirlpool Kenmore

My dryer stopped working (tumbling OK, but just blowing cold air), and I was quoted *many* $$$ for a technician to come out - sometime in the next several weeks:-( - to diagnose the problem. While waiting for a callback from anyone I Googled those symptoms as search terms, and found several help-sites that suggested replacing the heating element ($19.99) - and one that mentioned a "thermal cut-off." Checked the schematic and then Amazon, and thought for the price of this nifty kit I might as well try it! Both the cut-off and the thermostat were totally simple to replace - the only trouble I had was finding a hex-head screwdriver to take off the dryer back - and when I put it all back together it worked splendidly;-) (I did have my son check the continuity on the heating unit while I had it apart - also totally easy to take out, and there are videos - and it was fine.) One last point: naturally I vacuumed out the lint traps again while I was at it, but with my decades-old Whirlpool dryer, I think what killed it was *someone* hurrying off and leaving the switch on mid-cycle without the blower going - I wrote a note in Sharpie pen on it to ALWAYS MAKE SURE THE SWITCH IS TURNED TO OFF when you take the clothes out!

Had to purchase a second time as the first time I just replaced the thernal cut-off as that one was the one that tested bad. After replacing that the dryer ran for a cycle and the same cut-off was tripped. On the second attempt I replaced both and its been going strong for a couple of months now. I don't know if I got a faulty replacement or not but I'd recommend to replace both even if your multimeter reading on the thermostat is ok. Another note - I have an older maytag dryer and the jumper was not needed. Spent some time researching to see if it was required and it wasn't.

The delivery was fast and packaging was good so the parts won’t be damaged during transportation. The installation was very simple and so far after 2 weeks of use it’s still working. The quality of the product looks like the original part. price of kit is also better then others trying to sell one piece.

The heating element on our 45 year old Inglis household dryer (110 volts) stopped working. So, I removed the back and found it had a thermostat similar to the one pictured and at $16, decided to replace it and try to get it working. At that price, there was little to lose. After the simple replacement, the old heater element worked and the old dryer was again working just like it did in 1977.

The kits arrived on time and has everything its supposed to have. I installed the heating element fuse on my whirlpool Dryer and it is heating/drying once again. The real test is to see how long it will last. The last one I bought didn't last a whole year.

I replaced both parts, because if you don't, you risk ruining them and wasting your money. Everything is working fine. I have done about 7 loads now. I'm happy that these parts were so affordable.
