This mop can be used on concrete flooring, wood, tile, and any other kind of flooring. I absolutely love this heavy duty mop and use it every day to clean up behind both of my dogs! Also, I am not being paid one cent to praise this mop.

Is the clamp that holds the mop head to the pole plastic or metal?

It is metal . Sturdy enough to hold wet mop in place very well.

At your home when you open the box. I threw out the box a long time ago. China maybe. Its very unusual that it snaps together and fits in a tiny box.

How sturdy is the pole?

The pole is very sturdy. It's every bit as sturdy as a wooden handle. You can put lots of pressure on it without worry.
