Wind Muff (Dead cat) for Lavalier Lapel Microphone, Outdoor Furry Windscreen, Windshield, Windjammer for Mini MIC, 6-Pack

This little windscreen is surprisingly effective. I use it with the Shure SM58 and it does a great job cutting down on plosives and wind rumble, even indoors with a fan or A/C going. It fits snugly and doesn’t look awkward like some oversized windshields. If you're recording voice in less-than-perfect environments, it's a super helpful upgrade.

These are the most cost-effective option I've found. You get the foam and the muff combo which is important for the best wind reduction. I haven't tested in high winds, but for me it works great for field recording in low noticeable wind. The fit is extremely tight in my 11mm homemade mics. I destroyed the elastic on 1 of the 4 setting them up and the mics with them now installed will live that way forever. Still the best deal I've found on these. I'm sure there are better options for more wind protection with longer hair muffs and rubber gaskets at the bottom. I'm sure there are easier versions to install. These are perfect for me to make several cheap and effective field recording mics. I would guess for something like the Clippy EM272, you would have to get a bigger muff and for a 5-6mm lav you probably could get this to work, but you'll have to waste your own $9 on that experiment.

Got these to replace the one that got lost on Pastor's lavalier mic. Was a little tight to put on, but it did get it on the mics. Help to reduce the popping when he talks, and reduced the wind noise from the fan near by blowing on him. Only negative is the wind screens do get loose and fall off after a little while. Plus I wish they were just a little thicker at the top to reduce more of popping. My Paator pronounce his Ts, As, and other letters a bit hard. On hand mics I have to get screens with thicker top cushions or filters. Can't move the lavalier to far from center and chest level without loosing too much sound.

I have needed these for my lavalier mics for ages--why did I wait so long. The "dead-cat" style ones work perfectly in the wind, and the small black foam style ones are super pro and good for plosives on the mics. They both fit my 8mm lavaliers perfectly and snugly. They should have come with the mics I got years ago! 5 of each. I'm good for life with this simple set of windscreens.

I was in desperate need for some "dead cat" style windscreens for my lapel mics, these definitely make them usable on windy days.

Would not fit my microphone.
