I use 2 with no wire to hold up 30 pounds. Would not fell comfortable hanging 80 pounds with wire. Think using 3 D rings would be better

These are strong hangers. The weakest link is the wire. I have used coated, wire from Home Depot with these hangers with no problem. You always should test before you hang.

what is the w and l in inches ? is the l from the end of the hook to the bottom?

Here is a measurement: If lying flat, the entire length, from the edge of the rounded screw-hole flat piece to the tip of the ring, it measures just a hair over 2-1/8"". The screw-hole flat metal part measures 1-3/8" long. The ring part measures 1" long. The width of the screw-hole flat part is 5/8" to the end of the loops where the ring sits inside. The width of the ring part measures 7/8" at the widest where it attaches to the flat screw-hole part. I hope this helps. :)
