how do you use this? is this also cleaning rod? will it work on .38/.357 caliber revolvers?

This Bore Guide is for use with bolt action, and AR-15 style, rifles. The intent is that it keeps the cleaning rod from bending and creating small scratches in the barrel, and to help minimize the cleaning fluids getting into areas not otherwise intended. For cleaning your revolver I would suggest either a good pistol cleaning kit with brushes specific to your caliber.

Yes. This bore guide kit is universal and will fit most bolt action rifles. It is designed to be adjustable to fit as many rifles as possible. While I have only used mine on a Winchester model 70 and several Savages, the Remington 700 is one of the most popular rifles available so I am sure that it will fit.

Will this fit a 22LR rimfire?

DOES NOT FIT 22LR rimfire! I read the answers here and reviews claiming it does fit but I tried this in both my Smith and Wesson M&P 15-22 as well as my Ruger Precision Rimfire. For the M&P 15-22, the rubber tip cannot get past the extractor and will not reach the barrel face. For the Precision Rimfire, the rubber tip is far too large to fit in the bolt path. Sure I could sand it down and maybe it would fit, but I was looking for something that works out of the box.

Will it work for a Rem 783, 30-06?

Yes, you have a 30 caliber rifle and so do I. They come with 3 different tips to fit almost any bolt action rifle. I really love this bore guide because it eliminates any barrel solvent from entering the trigger mechanism. Try it you'll love it!
