Excellent for starting and running AC Motors
I have watched a lot of Youtube video reviews of DC-to-AC inverters. Most show someone running an LED light or hair dryer - basic resistive loads with very little surge current. This is my 2nd inverter purchase from Amazon, my first from Sungoldpower. I reached out to them prior to the sale and they responded with a link to a 5000W inverter/ charger what was reasonably priced. I returned the first unit from a different vendor after it failed to start a 1HP motor that I wanted to run from my 48V battery. The SP5048 arrived quickly in perfect condition. I studied the online manual prior to its arrival and determined that for simple battery powered inverter operation, it was 'plug-and-play'. I wired a duplex outlet on a short piece of Romex wire, attached the battery and turned the unit on. First time -- panic -- nothing happened. However, it takes about 15 seconds or so of silence to turn the screen on and cycle the fans. Takes a little bit getting used to, but understandable as there's a lot going on inside this box. I plugged in a HD extension cord and started trying out motors in my barn. First up, a small bench grinder -- no problem. Then a 12" bandsaw -- no problem. Then the upright air compressor with a large capacitor start motor. No problem. WOW! I watched the current output increase as the tank pressure increased which increases the load on the motor. I switched the motor off and then back on -- under load. There was a very brief voltage sag; however, the motor started and continued to run with issue and without inverter alarms. The variable speed fans were quietly running at a low speed pulling air in from the sides and pushing warm air out of the bottom. A load of 1700 Watts was indicated. This exceeded my expectations. The Sungoldpower inverter has the ability to daisy-chain together for more capacity or provide split-phase output (e.g. 240VAC). It is also a MPPT solar converter and a pass-thru AC uninterruptible power supply with switch-over in 10 msec. I can see this unit being used for a variety of purposes which really improves the value proposition for the expense of purchasing a 48V 100AH battery and a high-end inverter.

great product
Had this unit running my house through a 10 circuit critical load panel. So far it has been great not a hick up at all. have 10 405 watt solar panels hooked up to it as well as 4 51.2 v 100 ah vatrer batteries. Easy hookup have a sub panel from the unit that goes to critical load panel. Powers 8 circuits through the house. I have a 5000 and 3000 Sungoldpower inverter and I will probably be getting the 10000 watt in the near future so I can add my well with split phase. Will move this 5000 watt to my shop and the 3000 to my camper shed to power my rv. I would recommend highly. Great value as well as quality.

Works great
Works well. Worth the extra money vs the options a hundred or so dollars less. Only thing to consider is that solar needs to be 120v - 450v or mppt will not charge battery or power anything. I had to rewrite my panels since they were wired at 80v which my old inverter made use of fine. This one didn’t use them with that voltage though it saw they were connected. Just be aware if you get it and your panels aren’t working. That all said it’s very efficient. I have 2560w of panels. 8 panels total. And after my typical load of a light, tv, starlink and a fan, it was charging 2200w into batteries as measured by the battery shunt. That’s great.Generator connected and charges fine too. Pretty simple to program and has features to time when using panels vs grid. I don’t have grid so left all that off. After using renogy and an eco worthy worthy inverter previously, eco worthy 24v and renogy 48v, this inverter seems better made than renogy and perhaps eco worthy. I really liked the eco worthy but needed to go to 48v battery bank so after trying the renogy I settled on this inverter. The renogy wouldn’t charge my batteries for some reason but eco worthy and this inverter does.Biggest take away from my experience after trying a few is that the extra $100 price tag does give you a better inverter vs the others. The connections are better and it has more features. That aside from the internal build quality, which I’m assuming are a bit better as well.I’m going to add two more panels for a total of 3200w to take advantage of the better mppt this unit has so my 8 x 300ah 12v batteries charge a little more each day in the winter. Where I live winter angle puts the sun close to the horizon so I want to be sure the panels can keep up with charging.Overall very happy with the inverter.

Have not yet done a full setup.
My initial impression of this inverter is great. I have only set it up in my basement for testing and setup. I have not yet connected Solar panels to it. Overall It seems of good quality, sure it's Chinese, but I would not call it junk. Setup and quality seems as good as EG4. This is UL certified and works as I expected it to so far. 5000 Watt inverter is great so far.I got this to setup at my off grid tiny house. I'm just going to use a single All in one, and just 110v. I have 2 48 volt Ecoworthy (budget) server rack batteries, and overall I'm impressed.I will update the review if I have any problems, but the initial setup with AC in and AC out and Batteries was great in my test lab. It's going to provide me a lot more power than what i have today, using Ecoflow (river pro) and a 2nd off brand (1000 watt) solar inverter. When I set this up I went through every setting to make sure it was as desired. I think if you Ground and have a single neutral bond, and proper breakers in the system it will work great for many years.I matched this system with 5 - 460 watt bi-facial SungoldPower solar panels. I won't be setting this system completely up until spring, but Overall I'm pretty happy.

Disappointing Performance and Poor Terminal Design
The product did not perform as expected for a 5,000-watt inverter/charger. In my testing, it would power a Keurig coffee maker, but it would not operate a Nespresso machine, even though the Nespresso’s power requirements should have been well within the unit’s advertised capacity. This raised concerns about the inverter’s ability to handle certain real-world appliance loads reliably.I was also disappointed with the design of the electrical connections. The wire terminals are difficult to access, and the openings do not include proper cable clamps, strain relief, or rubber seals to secure and protect the wiring. The large, unsealed openings also leave the interior vulnerable to dust and insects, which is concerning for equipment that may be installed in a garage, utility room, or similar environment.I returned the unit because of both the performance issue and the poor terminal design. At the time of this review, I have returned the product but have not yet received my refund.

48v 5000 watt inverter
Purchased inverter Oct 22 2022. Worked well until one cooling fan went out Dec 2023 and inverter shut down. Customer service very helpful with replacing fans. However after installing fans inverter would only output 100 volt ac. After further discussion with customer service was advised new main board would cost $550. Seems high for an $800 inverter. Purchased two other sungold 6000 watt split phase inverters within the past year but with this kind of support will look elsewhere in the future. I don't expect parts for free but for me $550 several months out of warranty is not reasonable. Will provide update on other inverters if additional problems occur. I have 10kw of panels off grid with 40 kw battery storage.UpdateSungold customer service reached out to me offering the replacement board at cost since my inverter was just out of warranty. I have updated my rating to 4 stars for customer service and support.

This is a sweet Pure Sine Wave Solar inverter 5000W DC 48V
So I have purchased this small and light weight 5000W DC 48V inverter. I am using this for an off grid system of mine. The normal running of the inverter is doing an great job in my testing so far. The entire system is setup for solar recharge of the LiPo batteries. Now my setup does not have to have the batteries, but when the sun is not shining at night, the batteries are a good thing to have attached to the solar inverter. I am trying to stay away from the power grid for recharge. I am still learning about the system. I am working at logging all the data and stats to be recorded for long term analyses. It will be good to see how much power is produced from the solar panel array. It will also be good to see how much power the batteries produce and consume in the charge/discharge cycles. And the main reason to see how much power is used by the 120v appliances and lights. I am very excited about this Solar Inverter Combo box and the rest of the system.
