The Outcome and Assessment Information Set (OASIS) is an important tool for not only nurses, but I would argue for any and all individuals working in the medical field. This text does a wonderful job not only breaking down what an OASIS assessment looks like in its various forms, but also reasonable outcome goal creation, how to work with other service providers, and how to, above all else, center care around the patient and their wants and capabilities. This is an absolutely excellent read.

I wish I wouldn’t have spent 40 bucks on this, and I wish I could get my money back 😞I’ve been duped. If this helps one person to save their money, well… maybe that would make me feel as though I did some good by purchasing it.PURCHASE THIS ONLY IF YOU ARE LOOKING FOR STUDENT NURSE/NEW GRAD MOTIVATIONAL READING and HOW-TO GUIDANCE ON BASIC CHARTING.This book is written as though it was a capstone or thesis assignment in order to graduate from a bachelors or masters of nursing program.I was looking for more of a reference text which would help my charting to be more succinct and more in line with what Medicare/Medicaid likes to see with completed documentation.As a seasoned nurse who graduated 30 years ago, and who is new to the home health care arena, I felt as though there really was nothing in this book which could help me with my improvement on OASIS charting.Sure enough - after reading the preface on p. 8 - the author shares, “This book is secretly a motivational book... The ultimate goal of this book is to orient a new grad nurse into quickly working effectively as a visiting nurse in home health.”Also, if you go to the author’s website, further self-published books by him are all motivational as well.Into the recycling it goes. At least it’s biodegradable.
