This is our second purchase because the product does break down over time as it sits out and is fully exposed to the elements. Our first one dry rotted (first the drawstrings broke, then the cover ripped), but we didn’t hesitate to buy a new one. This one seems even thicker and more durable than the last.

This is the solution I wish I'd found years ago. My first solar cover came with a long plastic sheet to cover the cover on the reel, but it eventually disintegrated over years. Later solar covers didn't include the sheet. Then we started using old bed sheets to cover it, as it only needs shade from the sun while on the reel. Inevitably, both of these early solutions would get blown off by wind fully or partially, exposing the cover to solar damage when I didn't notice.That isn't a problem anymore with this well-designed cover that uses velcro and draw strings to securely fit over the cover. Despite many windy days, it's stayed firm and seems like it will hold up to the elements well. Only time will tell, but I'm optimistic.
