What an interesting and succinct history of Sarasota's amazing gardens and how we became so lucky to appreciate their beauty and location. I would definitely recommend to anyone interested in local history and the fascinating characters who shaped the land.

This little book presents a lot of interesting facets of one good story of one corner of Sarasota history. Nice compilation of research. An enjoyable read, and for a modest cost.

Excellent easy read and well written. We have returned to read parts of the book several times since initial reading. A must read for visitors to the world famous Selby Gardens in Sarasota.

The author presents a concise yet illuminating history behind the establishment of Marie Selby Botanical Gardens. While the facility is today a treasured Sarasota, Florida landmark, the events leading up to its existence were precarious indeed.This a very worthwhile read for those interested in the history of Sarasota in general and/or Selby Gardens in particular. Having said that, the book would have benefitted from competent editing, and from enhancement of the included photos and documents by a skilled graphic artist.
