Mine for Fossils Dig Kit - Excavate 15 Real Fossil Specimens

I purchased the Mine for Fossils kit for my five-year- old granddaughter for Christmas. She was so excited when she opened it and couldn't wait to "dig for the fossils". It is a rather messy project ( make sure to place block on newspaper or other covering as recommended ) , but she had so much fun using the tools provided to unearth the fossils. It is a great learning toy as descriptions of each fossil and where they came from are provided. It was wonderful to watch her become so involved in her work and to know that she was also learning. An awesome gift for any young budding paleontologist.

We ordered this for my 7 year old dinosaur loving and obsessed boy. The brick was moderately hard for him but he took many breaks which lead to this being an all day activity. I had absolutely no problem with that though! The coolest part other than his excitement was that we actually had 13 fossils in ours! My son was super stoked and I do believe I was a bit too. Awesome product.

My four year and five year olds loved this! Digging for fossils is where their interests are! Be prepared it's messy. Plaster dust every where. We needed up taking it outside after the first half hour when it was evident this was getting on the dogs as well as the kitchen table and floor. They just couldn't wait to find the first one then a little math and yes they knew there were 9 more to find. At times they need a bit of help to dig a bit deeper the plaster is hard after all it is plaster. A very small sigh came when we realized not everything you find is listed in the book that comes with it. It didn't stop the little diggers. By the end of the day all fossils were unearthed.

Listen, my kid and I sat at my kitchen table and had a BLAST with this. We really felt like we were paleontologists on a dig. The fossils are well defined and distinguishable from the rocks and debris in the block. They didnt skimp on the variety of fossils included and they are authentic, as advertised. My 11 year old daughter was already into prehistoric studies and the like, but this took it to another level for her. I truly think this cemented her desire to pursue the field in the future.The package comes with interesting foldouts to help you understand what you are looking at, and informative instructions to help you get the most out of the product. HIGHLY recommend this product.

Bought this for my 5 yr old niece for her birthday. She absolutely loved it! It wasn't real easy to find the first fossil, it was a good struggle that you want children to learn to preserve with. Once she found the first fossil she was so intrigued that it kept her going. Over 3 days she found all of the fossils. This is so educational, finding the fossils then lead her to investigate what type they were. Would love more educational kinds of toys like this.

This was quick fun for a an hour or two while my sons "excavated" the fossils. A bit pricey in my opinion for limited activity and a few fossils, although they were very happy to add their "discoveries" to their collection of rocks, minerals, and seashells.As a one-time gift for my own kids: not great, but not bad.

was going to order this for my niece but i wasnt sure she like it so I ordered it for my self..and I enjoyed it..the fossils where amazing..the substance the fossils are buried is easy to brake appart..your definitely want to lay some news paper or a garbage bag down when doing this..it does get messy..the activity book and the book showing what fossils you got where both beautifully done..will I be getting this for my neice..not yet..shes still a little to young for this..10/10 would order again

It was a fun kit, my only complaint is that It only included 7 items and no shark teeth mentioned on the box. But overall good.Update- contacted customer service, they sent me 3 fossils, so feel it was a good buy with great customer service.

Das Set war ein Geburtstagsgeschenk und ein voller Erfolg. Das Ausgraben macht Spaß und es sind viele Fossilien enthalten, welche beim Beschenkten Begeisterung auslösen. Zudem haben die Fossilien auch eine schöne Größe und sind nicht nur winzig. Als Zubehör waren ein stabiler Schaber und Pinsel dabei und zur Aufbewahrung der Fundstücke praktischerweise auch direkt ein kleines Säckchen.Ich kann dieses Set zu 100% empfehlen und es wird sicher auch zukünftig nochmal bestellt.

We bought this Mine for Fossils kit for my dinosaur-loving son's 7th birthday. He was very excited about the kit and was so thrilled to uncover the first few fossils. However, his enthusiasm gradually waned as he went on, because it's hard work to chip away at the plaster with the little tool they give you, and it takes a lot of time! My son did eventually uncover all the fossils but he did it over several days. We left the kit out on the porch during this time - I don't recommend doing this indoors as it gets plaster chunks and dust everywhere.I should note that once we had found all the fossils in the kit, there were only 9, not 10 as listed on the box. Also, all except for one large polished one, they were all very small and unimpressive. Plus, a dinosaur tooth broke upon removing it from the plaster. So for a while my son felt somewhat disappointed with the fossil kit.However, then we got a friendly email from the Dr. Cool company - I guess they got my email address from Amazon? - asking us how we liked the kit. I told them that we liked it, but my son was disappointed because a tooth had broken, and that there were only 9 fossils instead of 10. Then they apologized politely and offered to send us any two fossils we wanted. They just arrived yesterday - a mososaur tooth and a shark tooth - and my son was so excited about it. He has all his fossils in a little bag and carries them around, it's quite cute.After the excellent customer service we received, I will definitely buy more of their kits for my boys.

Ganz tolles Preis-Leistungs-Verhältnis. Da ist richtig viel drin und unser Neffe konnte viele Fossilien entdecken. Die Beschreibung ist jedoch auf englisch, das sollte man vorher wissen. Insgesamt ein großer Spass.

10 fossils you have to carefully dig out is hours of fun. Even for an adult it's a rewarding experience and can teach kids patience and the importance of being careful.
