I haven't ever used this type of wand before, even though it's the most traditional. I thought it would be easier to curl as the hair is clamped in and then twisted from the bottom, but actually this made it harder to curl in opposite directions than those whereby you simply wrap your hair around the wand.A heat glove was provided and though it's always good to be safe, actually I didn't feel that my hand was ever near the heat like with the wrapping ones, so this was much better! The wand itself heated up really quickly. The temperature can be adjusted by pressing the power button a few times, but even the highest heat didn't take long.My one complaint is that it didn't come with any kind of heat mat or heat proof storage. Luckily I had one already, but if you don't, you'd need to factor that into the cost when purchasing this wand as you would not be able to put it down until it had cooled otherwise. Other than that, for the price I think it's really good value for money.
