Fun, easy read...
Having nixed cable/satellite TV from my life over a decade ago, I had not watched Mob Wives, though I've had an interest in true crime, serial killers and mobsters. I'd heard people speak of Big Ang, so my curiosity was piqued . It led me to YouTube. She's a larger than life, over the top character and pretty much carried the show, in my opinion. It's brain candy, like many "reality shows" that are more contrived than actual reality. It was a fun read, my take away was that Ang was big hearted and generous, if not a bit on the feckless and shallow side. It was a fun, quick read that would leave some fans wanting more. I can see those who watched and like the show really liking it. That it was an easy, it went quickly. It was laid out in a "rule book" type format. Maybe I'm a bit too autonomous in personality for anyone's "rules" telling me what to do! In my opinion, it was virtually rules on being obsessed with materialism, over indulgence, vanity and plastic surgery to atone for excesses. I'm sorry she passed, for the sake of her family and fans. Given her lifestyle where moderation was not exercised, her passing due to cancer is not a shocker. She was just a year older than me, I remember the era, of our coming of age; some of us grew up, and for others, the party never stopped.

Wish i could of met her ...
This was way better than I expected it to be.Big Ang is the breakout star of the VH1 reality show "Mob Wives." Everything about her is larger than life: her fingernails, her lips, her voice, her personality, and especially her gigantic breasts. She even had her own summer spin-off show this year, which followed her and her lifelong friends in their overgrown adolescent adventures. This book is not the expected memoir, but rather a sort-of lifestyle manual/self-help book. It's pretty much a rundown of the philosophies Big Ang uses to guide her life, from fashion and grooming to cooking (what I wouldn't give to eat a Sunday dinner at her house!) and relationships, both friendly and romantic. Ang comes off as so positive and sweet and full of life that's it's impossible to dislike her, or even look askance at some of her dubious past (arrest for marijuana and cocaine dealing; leaving her baby daughter at a coat check while she partied at her favorite disco).I was lucky enough to meet Big Ang this past June at her Staten Island bar, the Drunken Monkey. I later learned, from watching her show, that it was the day before her son, A.J., made a court appearance which led to his court-ordered rehab sentence for his own involvement in drug dealing. But Ang, while not as effusive as on TV that night, couldn't have been nicer, and tolerantly posed for pictures. I can also tell you that she's quite pretty in person, and I was thrilled that her massive chest brushed my arm when I stood beside her.The only thing wrong with this book: NO PICTURES! I've seen some images of her from the eighties online on VH1.com, but I would have loved to see more here. If you love Big Ang, you'll love this book.

Love Big Ang
I actually had very low expectations of this book and it was suprisingly clever and quick-witted (although I know Big Ang is both those things, I didn't know if her "writing style" would translate!) And I think that even though she had an editor and possibly a writer to assist (?) I thought her voice came through loud and clear and was smart, articulate and above, all, hilarious in only the Big Ang way!! She's such a genuine and caring woman, and very honest about her own experiences in life- good and bad!! Cute, fun, easy and quick read for people that like Mob Wives, and above-all, love Big A! (Plus she put in a few recipes, which was very nice!)

I was so sad to read this book at the end of Big ...
I was so sad to read this book at the end of Big Ang's life. Wow, what an incredible person she was. She was as real as they come. My husband and I read this book together, it was a good read, I enjoyed her insight on life, love, family and LOYALTY and gained such a respect for her. We have a friend in common and now we understand his enormous respect and love for this amazing woman. Go big or go home!! Words to live by if you want to live an incredible life!!! RIP Big Ang! XO
