The Art of Bible Journaling: More Than 60 Step-by-Step Techniques for Expressing Your Faith Creatively

This is an extremely helpful how-to book that gives many different techniques for Bible journaling. The author, Erin Bassett, provides information about how to choose a type of Bible (translations, styles, etc.) I have a couple of journaling and coloring Bibles but had never heard of an Interleaved Bible before. It apparently has blank pages inserted into the text for you to do a full page journal, if you wish. This is something that I will be picking up to use with this great book. Ms. Bassett provides a listing of tools to use for journaling, from basics, to add-ons beyond basics and even a listing of things to use that are just for fun. I was surprised to see how much of these tools and medium I already have from my other crafts. I will start with what I have and then add-on as I advance. The vast majority of the book is a step-by-step walk through techniques and projects. Each project provides a list of the exact products she has used. That way, I can choose to make my project a match or go my own way with colors but using the same brand to achieve my own unique results. Some of the projects include: Stamping and Embossing, Coloring with Crayons, Gelatos, Stamping with Distress Inks (this looks really interesting to me!), Stenciling and Masking, Spray Inks, Decoupage and much more. I'm looking forward to spending the fall and winter months journaling in my favorite Bible using the projects in this book. I love this method of highlighting chapters and verses that speak to my soul.

I am just starting my Bible Journaling. Though I have done scrapbook pages for many years and other craft projects I found this one to be a bit daunting. Not every day I’m told to paint in a Bible. This and another book I got have offered me some good advice and ideas. I was really pleased to find templates, stickers and punch outs in the back of the book. Along with step by step directions. Erin shares a range of techniques, tips, and tricks to encourage artists, crafters, and wannabes at all skill levels to jump in wherever they feel comfortable. Don't have a lot of money for art supplies? One page uses crayons for a fabulous outcome. The examples are explained step by step with pictures. Best message from my perspective....this art is about the message I am hearing from God today, nobody else has to see, understand, or approve it! I am going to start in a journaling New Testament I bought for this purpose rather than the family bible.....kind of regret not having the Old Testament after seeing some of Erin's work but I decided to go with thicker pages and didn't want a weighty tome. This is a beautiful art technique “how to” book. At first I checked it out from my local public library, but found I really wanted a copy to have as a reference all the time. I am new to Bible journaling and the author provides an abundance of techniques to use to express one’s understanding and insight gained when reading the Bible. I especially appreciate finding out what works well on Bible paper, as it is typically very thin. I didn’t want to wreck the pages in my brand new Bible with bleeding through, etc. This was a good buy for me.

This is the best bible journaling book that I have seen in awhile...easy directions to follow

This book is absolutely beautiful! 🥰❤️❤️❤️ Just what I needed. I am new to bible journaling and She teaches so many different ways you can be creative. Even if you aren’t that artsy it’s very easy to follow. The author is amazing! Great quality book. Love the bonus material added in the back: Bible tabs, stencils, stickers, traceable designs and much more. Honestly this book is worth so much more in my opinion. Hands down a Must have!

I enjoyed looking through this book at the different techniques. However, it felt like an advertisement for different products. They did give suggestions if not using those products. Overall, I felt like it was a good book to get ideas from but the average person is not going to have a lot of this stuff lying around to use. There were a few projects just using normal items such as crayons and coloring pencils.
