Do I need a charger for the battery? I don't see a cable to charge it with.

The Brother PA-BU-001 Optional Battery Unit can be charged with the AC Adapter and AC Power Cord that come with either the Brother QL-810W or QL-820NWB label printer. To fully charge the PA-BU-001 battery unit it must be installed in the label printer, and will take approximately 2.5 hours.

Do you charge the battery by plugging it into the AC, with the battery installed in the unit? No docking station required to charge the battery?

Yes, docking station is not required for you to charge the battery of this product.

Does the printer have to be turned on while plugged in in order to charge the battery?

The Brother PABU001 is a battery. The label machine does not have to be turned on to charge the battery. You can leave it off with the AC adapter connected.

Where is the serial number located I can't find it anywhere?

The serial number for the PABU001 battery is under the battery. The serial number will start with a U6 number.

Perfect. It worked!

Perfect for what we needed! It lasted as long as the iPad .... 3+ hours of check-in. Printed 70 plus labels. Fairly easily attached to the bouncepad check-in stand(only minor mod).... For checking in 50 ft from the nearest electrical outlet it made us look good!

Used this at a church for a portable printer. Only needed a screw driver and it worked right away. So far the battery is lasting several weeks between charging and printing for about 30 kids a week.

It's a bit tricky installing some of the small screws, but now I can label print anywhere. Cheaper would be nice.

The brass area that the screws to in don't hold onto the screws.

We use a bouncepad with an ipad and a brother printer and this battery. When we got the battery and installed it, the screws/brass studs don't hold the battery to the printer! The brass studs in the printer do not hold the screws.
