The hinges are very nice and exactly what I needed for an antique hope chest restoration project. However, I was really ticked off to find that there were no screws or any sort of instructions included in the package. I was able to use the screws from the old lid support and went to youtube to find instructions before I drilled new holes. But that wasted a lot of my time and was really not appreciated. If you're not going to include screws, SAY SO and offer a link for instructions. It's really not that hard to include that info in a listing. I hate bad customer service.

The middle needs to be ground down, and the piece on the end will need to be removed. You will also need a nylon spacer kit. I also used M5 bolts.The product itself is robust and solid.

The brackets looks nice and seem very sturdy. One of the brackets is stuck in the closed position and no amount of force will open it so it's not usable.There are no instructions for how to install this and there are no screws. I ordered screws when I realized that this didn't come with them, but that was before I realized that one of the brackets is unusable. I called the company and left a message. Time will tell if they contact me back. I waited to hear back and when I didn't, I called Amazon. I was told that I had to return them and they'd send me a replacement but that I'd have to pay $7.99 for shipping. I told the man that was unacceptable and he put me on hold and came back and told me that he'd charge my credit card for the shipping charge and also issue me a $7.99 Amazon credit (with some limitations). He told me the credit was already issued, but as of two days later, it has still not showed up, so apparently I'm out the $7.99 shipping charge.The next day, the seller contacted me but the woman had such a heavy accent and poor grasp of English that I could only understand about 25% of what she said so I still have no idea what is going on there.

While the hinges did not come with screws—a bit of a sticking point for me when the item costs around twenty bucks, we simply reused the screws from the original hinges.Once you make it past the price, these are great pieces of hardware and have restored a cherished item from my wife’s childhood. We highly recommend these hinges— just don’t forget to order screws, too!

I purchased this hinge for a secretary desk. It hits the desk top as it closes & prevents complete closure. I'm not sure, but I 'think' it is only meant for a storage type chest. It does NOT fit a secretary.

We inherited a drop down desk that had two broken chains for the latches. I bought these hinges, easy to put in. They are perfect. With a drop down desk, they need to be strong enough to hold the desk top while in use and after a month of daily use they have proven to be strong. They also look great, add to the antique desk rather than take away.
