Difference between this product and the more expensive Scotts 31005A
I couldn't tell the difference between Scotts 31005A Moss Control Granules (most expensive) and this Scotts Moss Control Granules 31005 (least expensive) by the description. Last year I applied the more expensive one and was very satisfied because it killed the moss quickly with only 1 application. When it came time to order this year, I wondered why would I pay more for what appears to be the same product so I ordered the least expensive one.After application this year I see that the 2 products are very different.The Scotts 31005A Moss Control Granules (most expensive) is very effective at killing moss with only 1 application. I use it in flower beds as well as grass. It has rust granules.Whereas the Scotts Moss Control Granules 31015 (least expensive) with gray granules isn't as effective at killing moss but add nutrients to lawns; this product is best used to keep moss at bay after the moss has been killed and, it has much less coverage than the 5000 sq ft claimed. To be clear, this product does kill moss but much more product is needed. I still had moss and had to order the 31005A rust granules to get the job done properly. What initially appeared to been a saving was not in my case.For my climate in the no snow wet coast with a lot of moss, I think it's best to apply the 31005A in early November and again in early spring to kill all the moss and use the 31005 to keep moss away and feed the grass during summer.The names of the products are the same which is confusing but they are different products with a different purpose.
