Revolutionize Your Home Automation with the TP-Link Tapo Smart Plug: An Energy Monitoring Marvel
I recently purchased the TP-Link Tapo Smart Plug with Energy Monitoring and I must say, I am thoroughly impressed. I had previously used TP-Link Kasa smart plugs which were rather hit-and-miss, with the company breaking smart home integration functionality in the past. However, I took a chance on the Tapo smart plugs due to a fantastic Black Friday deal and I am glad I did.The app is simply outstanding, it not only measures the energy consumption, but it also calculates the cost based on the price per kWh that you enter. This makes it extremely easy to track and monitor your energy usage. It integrates seamlessly with home automation systems, be it through Alexa or API for developers, allowing you to automate various non-smart devices in order to save energy.I purchased these smart plugs to reduce energy consumption by devices and appliances that waste energy in sleep mode. For example, my TV set and HiFi equipment use 10W of energy, but thanks to the Tapo smart plugs, I was able to automate the process so that the electricity is turned off once the power usage drops below a certain threshold. I also use them to turn off my non-smart bed heating pad in the morning, ensuring that I don't waste energy by leaving it on. Should I need to turn it back on, I can simply use Alexa, which works flawlessly.Additionally, the built-in features are incredibly useful. For example, I use the smart plugs to turn off various lights when the sun sets, with an offset, so that it's not too dark during the dark winter days. The 4-pack is the most economical option and is a smart investment as there are multiple uses for these smart plugs. For instance, you can use one to monitor and turn off your iron if you're worried you may have left it on. The energy consumption of the plugs themselves is minimal, measuring at roughly 0.5W, making it an economical choice for a smart appliance. In conclusion, I would highly recommend the TP-Link Tapo Smart Plug with Energy Monitoring to anyone looking to automate their home and monitor their energy usage. It is an excellent product that integrates seamlessly with home automation systems, is easy to use, and provides accurate and useful information.

Set up a breeze, convenience at your fingertips
All you really need is the app. Setup was effortless. No hub needed unless you wanna add a physical button/switch and possibly other addons to be placed somewhere in your home, which was a bonus since i didnโt need one. I can now operate the light in my loft without having to climb up, turn on light, climb back down, pick up the stuff i wanna store in the loft and climb back up. And in the rare event u forget to turn iff the light, i can simply access the app and turn it off. Another great feature is that it monitors the energy consumption, not necessary but helpful little feature to have if its something u care about. TPLINK (parent company) have always been reliable for me so i trust that this brand will be the same. Very happy with purchase!โโโโโโโโโโโโMy Rating Systemโโโโโโโโโโโโ*opinions are my own and based on my own experiences and preferences*1 Star : Extremely poor quality product. Not fit for purpose. Easy setup. Use compatibility mode on EE WiFi Pro 7 router.
I've managed to get this working on my EE WiFi 7 router running both 6/5GHz and 2.4GHz compatibility mode WiFi networks. Initially I was perplexed that the Tapo P110 Smart Plug was noted by Amazon's "Rufus" as being compatible with WiFi 5GHz LANs. A general web search on this product will advise you that it's only 2.4GHz. This is true, as the Tapo app will advise you during setup to provide the 2.4GHz WiFi for the device to connect to. However, if you have the EE WiFi 7 Pro router then you can switch on the Compatible WiFi feature and have a concurrent 2.4GHz network working with your main 6/5GHz one. The beauty of this feature is that the name of the 2.4GHz compatible WiFi doesn't have to be the same as your main WiFi. There's no need to manually switch between WiFi networks on your device running the Tapo app because the router does the magic behind the scenes, allowing everything on your WiFi networks to connect. EXCELLENT as well as HIGHLY CONVENIENT.So far it has been really good. Easy setup. Great power monitoring info from the Smart Plugs too. Works well.

Great but fail with certain loads
I have a lot of these dotted around my home and they're great for switching things on and off through the app and with Google Home. They easily connect to the network and stay connected, and everything is just as you'd want from a plug. These are really low cost which is great, but they're possibly too low cost; I use one of these plugs to connect my PC and connected peripherals. I do this because even when the PC is off, there's a constant 60W draw from everything else. Being able to turn this all off in one go is a great energy and back saver! But, the plug I use for this regularly fails within 12 months. It must be the type of load a PC pulls through it, for some reason. A constant supply of around 280W, only 1/10th its rating, for half the day, but the relay inside always eventually fails by becoming stuck on.Every single Tapo plug I've had that's ever connected my PC in this way has been RMA'd, and that number is almost to double digits. I just wish they'd spend a few pence more on relays with more robust contacts. The RMA cost (return at your own expense for a new replacement) is half the cost of the plug when it's in a sale. Consider these plugs to be consumables.

Perfect for Managing Multiple Fish Tanks & Appliances!
I have multiple fish tanks at home running lights and filtration, and this has made everything so much easier. The lights need to run at least 8 hours daily, and with Tapo, I can set schedules to make sure everything runs smoothly without having to worry. What I really like is how easy it is to control everything from the appโif I need to turn something off quickly, I can do it instantly. The app is very user-friendly and easy to access anytime.Itโs also great if you have multiple appliances that need managing. The energy monitoring feature is a big plusโit shows how much power youโve used and how long devices have been running, which really helps if youโre keeping an eye on your electricity bills. The 4-pack is great value for money, especially if you have multiple setups like meโitโs definitely cheaper than buying individual plugs.Note on protection: It does have built-in safety features, but itโs not a full surge protector like a dedicated surge extensionโso Iโd still use one for expensive equipment if youโre concerned.Overall, super convenient and reliable. Iโm even planning to get Tapo security cameras next!

Great Value for Smart Home Automation
I purchased the Tapo P110 Smart Plugs primarily for their 'Away Mode' functionality, and they've proven to be incredibly effective. We needed a solution to have lamps turn on and off on a schedule while we were away for most of the month, to give the realistic impression that someone was in the house. The Tapo P110 handles this perfectly, offering adjustable schedules that are easy to set up via the app.Beyond Away Mode, the scheduling features are remarkably useful for everyday home automation. For example, I use them to automatically turn on our internal security cameras when we leave the house, with the peace of mind that the cameras receive no power while we're inside. You could even integrate geo-fencing (if you wanted to delve into that aspect of smart home automation) to have the cameras activate precisely when your phone leaves a set perimeter. The energy monitoring feature is a definite bonus. It's a nice little utility for seeing exactly how much power your connected devices are consuming. While I personally haven't used it to actively change my habits, it's incredibly insightful for monitoring what your appliances are actually drawing. This data could certainly be valuable for anyone looking to identify energy hogs and reduce their electricity bill.Crucially, I've had no issues with these plugs regarding reliability or connectivity. They've remained consistently connected to our Wi-Fi and responded promptly to commands and schedules. For the price point, I am very happy with them. They're compact enough not to block adjacent sockets, and the Tapo app is intuitive and user-friendly.Overall: The Tapo P110 Smart Plugs are a fantastic choice for anyone looking to enhance their smart home. Their robust 'Away Mode', flexible scheduling, and useful energy monitoring features make them incredibly versatile. Given their reliability and excellent value, they are highly recommended for anyone wanting to add smart control and energy insights to their home appliances.

Very helpful and reliable product
This product is amazing. The stability of the wifi connection is quite good (other products I had in the past tend to disconnect and need to be paired again) which is great as I have some of these on the back of appliances such as dryer or washing machine, and it would be bad to have to pair again regularly. Also the energy consumption data is a great bonus! Have allowed us to understand where our energy bill goes on a daily basis.

Easy setup and accurate
Bought these to monitor a bunch of appliances and it works well. The app works well, Android, and even the Washing machine and dryer show accurate results, same as what the washing machine reports. Same for UPS reported usage as the usage from the UPS at the plug.
