Shoe GOO Shoe Repair Adhesive, Shoe GOO Clear

Call me Imelda. I have well over 100 pairs of shoes (and boots), and some go back as far as 1978. I live in FL, and even though my shoes are kept neatly in air-conditioned closets in an air-conditioned house, somehow, they just...fall apart after a while. The soles or platforms separate from the shoe. I am not joking if I tell you I support my local shoe repair shop (I've been living in this area for over 20 years), and I am literally in there at least once a month (I told him recently that we probably have fixed almost all of my shoes, so soon we'll be starting over). He charges me $20 (plus tax), to glue the shoes back together (and we never do ONE shoe; we always do both. If one falls apart, the other will soon follow, could even be by 15 minutes. One time both fell apart as I was walking, within seconds of each other. Not sure how I didn't break both my ankles as I fell off the platforms. I'm sure that looked quite graceful). Anyway. One day this happened, one of my shoes began to fall apart as I walked through a parking lot, and I happened to have the Shoe Goo in the glove compartment. It was a new product I had recently purchased but not yet used, so I read the instructions. Unfortunately, it is not "instantaneous"; it tells you the glue has to set for like 4 hours. Well, I glued it as I sat in the car, put on a spare pair of shoes I always keep there for occasions like this, and went about my business. By the time I returned to my car 3 hours later, the shoe seemed to be holding together nicely. I wore them later that evening, and a few times since, and they have held up perfectly. By which I mean, as well as my shoe repair shop would have done. For a lot less money, no trip to the shop, no waiting a week for him to get them back to me. I'm still a little nervous about wearing them (like what if they don't hold up?) but at the very least, having something like this can buy you time and save the day, even if you do end up at some point having to buy new shoes.

If your go-to shoes are trail hikers and approach shoes as mine are, then you are likely buying brands like Keen, Merrill, Scarpa, Teva, and The North Face... many of these brands have a glued-on grid on the sole for traction. This grid has a fair level of potential for delaminating from the sole, particularly for Keen shoes (which I like so much). Many Keen models wrap this grid up onto the side of the shoe which (I think) makes it more susceptible to delamination. That said, when the bottom falls out, don't throw away what might be your favorite pair of shoes! Get yourself some Shoe GOO and fix the problem. Buy the clear colored product, clean all the surfaces to be glued well, and add an adequate level of GOO to both surfaces to be welded. Don't overdo it. After the GOO is applied, thumb press all surfaces together to assure good contact, then wrap the sole firmly to the shoe with blue painter's tape and set them aside for 2-3 days in an area that is around a constant 70 Deg. to get a good cure. I have had a very good success rate in salvaging my shoes by using this product and method. Good Luck Jim

The Shoe Goo arrived, I was so happy. This product is hard to find and work perfect on little repairs of tennis shoes. Just remember to apply it but then put a weight over the application. At least let it sit over night to assure good contact. Thank you for having this item in your stock and selling on Amazon. Darlene

I smeared this good stuff onto a pair of Keens light-hikers, where the inner sole had separated, starting at the heel, from the outer sole. Really gooped it on, spreading it with a wooden depressor stick. Also glued back into place a number of traction elements of the outer sole that start on the bottom of the shoe and wrap around to the sides; they had lifted away from the sides of the outsole. Needed some light clamping to hold the latter in place while the glue set - an overnight-plus timeframe. The repairs look good and feel solid to a hand-tug. But time will tell, when I put some walking miles into these shoes. Will update if/when they either stand the test of time or something gives way.

I found out the hard way Nike shoes have a date on the tongue, and they expire. I bought 2 pair of Nikes on sale at a well-known retail store, not knowing they were old stock past the expiration date - who would know that? Not long after I started wearing the first pair the soles came loose and flapped like clown shoes as I walked. I contacted Nike and they told me, although they were "new", they were out of date, and they would not replace or repair them. They had almost zero miles on them. The unused pair also had the soles come loose. Their glue seems to evaporate after a couple of years. I repaired them with this stuff and that did the trick. Since then, the price had doubled on these shoes, so this was a deal and a half repairing them. I have actually used this glue for a lot of non-shoe jobs, and it is just great glue to have around the house. I just bought some New Balance shoes.

Very good product for extending the life of the sole of your shoes . If you prep with a little mineral spirits and apply the Shoe Goo then give a quick wipe with mineral spirits. You're back in business 🙃

I use this as a glue for a craft I make involving wood and figurines. ( nothing to do with shoes). It is so tough and durable and easy to dispense. Dry strong and dries clear.
