Wolf (Sentinel Security Book 1)

Good
Nick “Wolf” Garrick and Elaine (Lainie) MaddenFirst in series, but it’s a spin-off from the Norcross series, and set in the same world as the Treasure Hunt Security/Team 52/Billionaire series’s in what can only be described as the Hackett Universe created by the author… Annaverse? Hackettverse? No need to have read those first, but the Norcross and Billionaire series are ones I’d recommend reading just so you get background information on people mentioned and events alluded to in the book.Nick Garrett, former Navy S.E.A.L. and current private security expert is concerned when his little sister tells him her best friend Lainie has been getting death threats.Nick has known Lainie for years, but has kept his hands off of the woman he’s been attracted to since she grew up.Now he’s determined to keep her safe.Lainie has always fancied her best friend’s older brother, but until now she never got the chance to act on it. Between the attraction burning between them, and the person trying to kill her, she’s got a lot going on!It’s up to Nick to make sure that Lainie stays alive, and that he gets the opportunity for a future with her.I was extra pleasantly surprised by the cameo appearances of certain people that were called in to help Nick and Lainie- Vander is a given (he crops up everywhere), but there are others that will be recognizable to Hacketteers (eagle eyes will guess when they see a giant clue). The book itself is the usual fast paced, action packed adventure Anna is so gifted at writing. This is no insta-love situation, the lead characters have known each other for years, and had feelings too, they just never acted on them. All in all, a rollicking good romp for Hacketteers and romantic suspense fans alike.

Nick & Lainie
A fast-paced suspense full of twists! This one kept me on my toes, and I couldn’t put it down! Nick and Lainie both have their reasons for staying away from each other, but they also can’t ignore the pull between them. When Lainie’s in danger and Nick realizes he could lose her? He’s all in. I’m pretty sure I’d probably punch someone if they bulldozed their way in and just told me we were together, but listen. In a book? I eat it up. I was living for his protectiveness and the way he wasn’t going to give up on the two of them being together. And I love the way Lainie pushed back. These two are fire together, and I can’t wait to read the rest of the series!

wolf finds his pack
Loved this start to this series. I started with the Norcross series and wasn’t sure I would like another series as much as I liked that team and books but Anna Hackett knows how to draw you in and love her characters. Looking forward to the other books in this series!

I can’t . DNF
Ok, so the MLC spends most of the first chapter telling us two things (mainly) : Who he works for and what he’s supposed to be doing that night. Helping “his team” catch a very wealthy and philandering arms dealer. And he’s grinding his internal gears and possibly his teeth over the safety of his younger sister’s bestie. A woman he supposedly wants very badly but her being little sisters bestie makes her to sacrosanct in his mind and not to be touched.( Personally I don’t like or agree w/the trope . I find it annoying. I mean if the sibling is bad news or already in a relationship or a player or user, then yeah I wouldn’t want them together . But otherwise why would you be against the two ppl you love/care about most being together? If it doesn’t work out it doesn’t work out. But it might . They might be just what the other needs. It’s silly if the only they don’t try is reason he gives.)Anyway ,that’s what most of what the first chapter is about ,until he sees her. We’re barely with the heroine a few pages ( you don’t even begin to get a chance to know her) when wolf cuts in on a dance she was barely invested in and scolds her. She gives a very weak attempt at standing up for herself . She challenges him, says he couldn’t easily get her out of the fancy party at a ballroom. So he kisses her silly. Grabs a hold of her ,gets his car. shoves her in and drives off.Huh ? Mission ? What mission ?So he ( ex Navy Seal ,supposed possible CIA) sees her, dancing , doesn’t see ANYTHING even slightly dangerous going on w/or around her, but stalks over her and basically says F it! to his mission, boss and colleagues to storms off with a woman who at that moment isn’t even in danger ?Wait, what ?That isn’t the behavior of a trained soldier . Especially NOT a CIA agent. Lainie was dancing with a guy she describes as a boring boy next door “Ken doll” of a guy. No one was in danger but that guys toes or in step, yet here we have a supposedly trained Seal abandon the ppl her works w/for a woman he’s been avoiding for a decade ? A woman he can’t stop telling us why he can’t have her? I know,I know I’d only made it thru one chapter when he was “shoving” her into a car and taking off but he was ignoring everything he supposedly stood for to “save” a woman who didn’t need it. All the while leaving his boss and co workers to handle a case he was supposed to be apart of . W. T. H ?Right ? Then as he drives off in chapter two he browbeats her into admitting the threats are worse than he knew. Yeah, but you still F’ed up because you didn’t know that when you pulled your lil stunt. This starts so ridiculously I couldn’t continue. I'm not looking for stories that are overly realistic, this is an escape. A fantasy. But in the first chapter you see the male lead cancel out everything he's supposed to stand for, everything that is supposed to make him him without a good reason.. The Damsel is NOT in distress but he walks off and abandons his team. Why ?SMHMs.Hackett is better than this .

Fun read
I am on my 9th or 10th Anna book in a row. While I find them enjoyable fluff, my problems with them are: 1) there is heavy usage of the c-word and p-word when speaking of genitals, and now once I see it on the page, I just immediately swipe left to the next page, skipping the excessive coarseness. Whatever is written on that page is not important enough for me to wade through that sewer. 2) I notice that in none of her books thus far, no one gets married? That’s weird, and not indicative of real life. Most people as in love as these characters claim to be, talking about “mine” in every book, would definitely, definitely get married…”put a ring on it,” as Beyonce would say. For those reasons and more, I prefer Melody Anne, as I am a true, traditional romantic at heart, but certainly enjoy Anna Hackett, and will read more of her work. Living together is not the flex modern society claims it is.

Wolf (Sentinel Security Book 1
Lainie is a billion dollar business owner who has loved Nick, her best friend’s brother since she was 12 years old. Someone is threatening to kill Lainie and Nick’s sister Nola contacts her brother Nick to look into it. Nick has been attracted to Lainie since he kissed her at age 18 years ago but a failed misdion while in CIA has left him traumatized and feeling unworthy of love. As the threats to Lainie escalate Nick and Lainie are thrown together and sparks begin to fly! Great story with surprise that is totally unexpected!

Intriga, accio, suspenso y mucho romance son los mejores ingredientes de los maravillosos libros de Anna., un libro que no podrán dejar de leer.

A New Series…
Now when I read a series I like to collect all the books before I start to read them and I know this has been out for a while but with reading about Sentinel Security from other series I was excited to start this and I want disappointed as Wolf and Lanie battle a stalker intent on killing Lanie… definitely a page turner.
