Does the trapped liquid drain back? I cannot see any drain holes in the inner column for return to the boiling flask

Whats the purpose of this attachment and what difference between does it makes?

This is placed between the evaporation flask and vapor tube on a rotary evaporator. When heat/vacuum is applied, occasionally the solvent mixture will violently boil or “bump.” This glassware prevents the solvent mixture from entering the condenser, prevent contamination of the instrument in places that are difficult to clean, and improves overall yield by allowing the solvent mixture to drain back into the evaporation flask. I have never used a rotary evaporator without some sort of bump trap and highly recommend every lab with a rotary evaporator invest in at least two of these.
