It absolutely works.
So we've owned this tracker for almost eight months now. It arrived as advertised, two transmitters and a very small, light tracking device. It was a little tricky to get the tracker attached to the collar (you just have to stretch the silicone a little to get it over the end of the collar), but it's light and our cat doesn't seem to have particularly noticed that it's there. It's kind of fun on a day-to-day basis: if friends come over and want to see the cat, I can easily figure out which of her weird sleeping spots she's hiding in. It has also proven impossible to lose: twice our cat has come home without her collar (after it got caught on something) and both times the tracker led me right to it. But I'm writing this now because last week, it served its primary purpose for the first time: the cat wasn't home in the morning, which is never the case. After calling her, I pulled out the tracker and it picked up nothing - no signal. I walked a large loop around our house through our neighborhood, swinging the tracker back and forth - still nothing. I had to go to work, but when I got home she still hadn't reappeared. I started quartering the neighborhood, ranging further and further, and had pretty much given up when, wandering down a side street about six blocks away and across two major roads, it beeped. It led me to a particular house, and after getting closer to the backyard through a parking lot, I called and heard a plaintive meow. She was unhurt but clearly scared, and we were able to get her over the fence and home safely. We *never* would have found her without the tracker - this is one of the best purchases ever.

A Life Saver for Your Feline Friend!
I recently purchased the TabCat Homing Tags v2 Pet Cat/Kitten Tracker for my cat and I couldn’t be happier with it. I’ve tried other products in the past but they were either too bulky or didn’t work as well as I had hoped. The TabCat Homing Tags v2 Pet Cat/Kitten Tracker is different. It’s lightweight and easy to use, and it works like a charm. One of the things I love about this product is that it has a longer range than other trackers I’ve tried. This means that I can keep track of my cat even when she’s out of sight. The tracker is also very accurate, which gives me peace of mind knowing that I can find my cat quickly if she ever gets lost.Another great thing about the TabCat Homing Tags v2 Pet Cat/Kitten Tracker is that it’s very easy to set up. All you have to do is attach the tag to your cat’s collar and you’re good to go. The tag is also very small and unobtrusive, so your cat won’t even notice that it’s there.Overall, I would highly recommend the TabCat Homing Tags v2 Pet Cat/Kitten Tracker to anyone of my friends who wants to keep track of their cat. It’s a life saver for your feline friend!

This really works!
This has been a life saver for us....we recently started allowing out cats to spend some time outside, and generally they are pretty good about hanging around, but there have been several occasions where they haven't come home by bedtime. This has been invaluable in determining where they are, as they are usually within the 500ft radius. It works well, is accurate and easy to use.

Don't expect miracles, but it does work
I have a cat that wanders. I try and keep him in at night but if the weather is good he goes on walkabout. He can get back into the garage through a cat door but as we live in a rural area I'd just rather he be indoors with us for his own safety. If you've done your due diligence on cat trackers, you know there are 3 types. The Apple Airtags are cheap and show up on your phone, but they use Bluetooth and have a very short range. If you live out in the sticks like me, they are almost useless since there won't be a large network of iPhones to pick up the signal and share it to your phone. Then there are the GPS trackers. They'll give you a precise location of your cat right on your screen. The trouble is...they're expensive with a monthly fee (they use a cell phone network to track the transmitter so it's like getting your cat a mobile phone account), they're relatively heavy on you cat's neck, and the battery needs recharging like every day or so. Which brings us to the third type, a beacon tracker which is what the TabCat is. No monthly subscription, light weight, and the batteries last a reasonable length of time. The trouble is the range, which I have found is about 500ft. The cat collar tag is a miniature beacon. It is always listening but only transmits when it hears an interrogation signal from the handheld unit which you are holding. (If the tag was transmitting all the time the little hearing aid batteries in it would be dead in a matter of days, since transmitting requires far more power than receiving.) So, when you go looking for kitty you turn on your handheld unit, which is about the size of a credit card. It sends out an interrogation signal. If the cat's tag is in range it will respond with pings that your handheld unit picks up. The handheld unit has a highly directional antenna inside it. Swing it around and a series of eight LEDs light up based on how strong the received signal is from the tag. When you aim it for the strongest signal, that is the direction towards the cat. It's a lot like those police movies from the 1960s where they are tracking a car with a direction finding radio. Unless you cat is very close by, you are going to be hiking around a lot. Twice now I've ended up nearly half a mile from my house looking for the cat. And found him. It's a bit of a skill. I ended up walking for half an hour in various directions until I finally got a weak hit. Then a lot of moving left and right and seeing how the direction changed. Eventually I got close enough for a strong signal, whistled a couple of times and up popped Sherman, no doubt wondering, "What are YOU doing here?"Since I'm a bit of a radio geek I can live with the efforts involved. I did contact the TabCat folks and they told me it is using 2.45GHz microwave frequency. Which explains how they can get such an accurate directional antenna in the small handheld unit, since this is a very short wavelength. I did try an experiment by mounting the handheld unit at the focal point of a small microwave antenna dish of 14" diameter. It did increase the range a bit but it is pretty impractical tromping through the woods carrying a dish antenna. So far the battery life has been decent; I'm still on the original tab and handheld batteries. You can buy a dozen or more replacement batteries on Amazon for just a few dollars; these are fairly common button batteries. The instruction book tells you the type. A minor annoyance is that the handheld unit times out after about a minute so you have to press the keys again to restart it. But I know they have to do this because of the limited battery capacity. If you left it on constantly transmitting it would probably blow through the battery in short time. The tag you attach to your cat is very light weight. My cat has worn a breakaway cat collar for years so adding the tag to it didn't bother him a bit.All in all, if you worry about your cat's location, this unit does indeed work. But it will require some effort on your part too, chasing him down. Some people get the mistaken impression this is going to somehow show up on your phone's screen with an X marks the spot. It doesn't. It has nothing to do with your phone. You will be searching for the strongest signal on the handheld unit and it will involve a degree of exercise. But...better than having to walk a dog multiple times a day, right?

Funciona

Had an issue and it has been resolved.
Update: My TabCat stopped working just over three months after buying it. After sending an email to the seller they sent back some ideas on what could be wrong. After reviewing them I realized it is actually broken - the metal tab inside is disconnected. They are going to issue me a refund so I can re-purchase.Original post: I love this tracker for my cat. I had an AirTag before but it really didn’t help me find him unless I was close, and if I wasn’t close the address it gave me wasn’t accurate at all. With this tracker I can easily figure out which direction he’s in, and as soon a I activate it the signal gets stronger because he starts moving toward me. I haven’t had to use it yet in a situation where he was missing, but I think by walking around the neighborhood I could locate him too. Also like the size of it and how well protected it is. Well worth the money!

Really easy to track my cat
Useful to have a separate tracker other than an app.

的確に居場所がわかる
飼い猫が脱走癖あるので購入しました。方向と距離がわかりやすいので、捕獲までの時間が大幅に短縮されました。あまり遠くだとダメですが、電波の届く範囲だとバッチリです。

Works very well (minor fixable issue encountered and general context below)
We've had the Tabcat for two months and it's been mostly rock solid.Range/context:Our cat wanders very far (sometimes 200+ meters in suburbs) so we did not expect this tracker to locate him without looking around a bit and it cannot but that's fine. There are sometimes multiple houses and yards in the way and a short walk around the neighbourhood is all it takes to get a signal if we ever need to locate him. A few times every day, we turn on the tracker to find out if our cat is in the area. Instead of looking for him and worrying, we instantly know if he's within calling distance and in what direction. It's a huge relief when your cat hasn't been around for more than a couple hours.Battery life:So far, considering we've been tracking the tag multiple times per day every single day for two months, the battery life is pretty good both for the tracker and for the tag. GPS trackers don't come close to this.Form factor:Our cat isn't a small cat so keep that in mind, but the tag isn't in the way at all. We use it with the protective case because otherwise it's not water resistant but our cat doesn't seem to notice it. Again, much less bulky than the GPS trackers tend to be.Issue encountered:One issue appeared after a few weeks where the tracker more and more would beep for a good second when we pressed the button to track the tag instead of tracking it but it turns out the casing is flexible enough that we were pressing with our index fingers on the battery door behind the tracker while pressing the button with our thumb and this was enough to move the battery inside off of one contact, restarting the tracker. After adding a small paper shim on top of the battery, it has worked 100% of the time. This could be fixed by making the back casing thicker or by lessening the Z space in the battery compartment. The manual recommends a GP389 battery which is a bit thinner than the CR2032 that came with the unit so I'm not sure why there's enough room for the battery to shift but considering how easy it was to fix, I'm still recommending the product wholeheartedly.
