I currently live with my parents, and even as a grown adult, they still like to come in unannounced. I bought this to “encourage” them to start knocking before they come in. I’ve been able to test the durability of it, and it works really well. I haven’t tried it on a thick front door but for your room, if you don’t have a lock and don’t wanna go through the hassle of changing it, this is a cheap reliable alternative. The good thing is that it’s not quite when someone tries to open it. The chain and metal parts will rattle and alert you that someone is trying to get in. It’s ajustable and has two different size holes to put into your door. You might have to maneuver around it a little if the door is in a tight space, but over all, very easy to use and secure. If you don’t have a lock and you want to keep your right to basic privacy in your own home, this is the way to go.

Sturdy, easy, and hold you door shut as expected. Only works on properly installed doors. Will not work if you have gaps wider than 1/2 inch. Renters beware.

Travel to hotels often. We put this on adjoining room doors to keep them secure and on our entry door to keep maids / maintenance/ freaks from coming into our room when we’re in there. Easy to operate, takes very little space in suitcases.

Sturdy and well made. However I had difficulty installing them in the door. You must have a bit of a gap between the door and the frame. More concerning is I had difficulty removing the lock from the door so I could open the door again. This would be even more difficult if I had to do it under duress, e.g. a fire.

6/2/2024 - worked well on a trip to vegas. Pretty easy to figure out how to use and put it. Put some weight on it to test, idk if it would stop someone determined to get through the door but preventing someone from sneaking in while you were sleeping this definitely would do the trick.

These locks work great in my home, but does not fit any hotel door yet or Airbnb.

This keeps the door shut and I feel safer with it in use. That is what I bought it for. When I travel I will take it with me and feel better and sleep better, with the safety it adds. But, I am not very good at using it. I think it will be easier as I use it, for now I feel like a fumble fingered child.

Practise with it at home before you travel so you know how it works. Make sure the red piece fits tightly up against the door. There shouldn't be any looseness. It's good that there are 2 sizes so one of them should fit in any door. Comes in a handy carrying case. I bought the 2 pack so I could give one to my sister who often travels as well.
