No. Just open packet. Unscrew back of PS5 and slot in. Rescrew back if PS5 on and off you go. SIMPLES.

Can this be used as an external hard drive if put in a case?

Should be fine in a M2 external enclosure. If it will get heavy use you might need an aluminium case to help keep it cool.

Just installed this on ps5 when formatted the speed says 6543 Is that right? As on box says 7300

If you scroll down to the specs for this ssd this is what you will find, remember they will always say "up to" because it always depends on the system it is going into to get the max possible speeds; Sequential Read (MB/s)(1) - Up to 7,300 Sequential Write (MB/s)(1) - Up to 6,350
