ALASKA BEAR Side Sleeper Sleep Mask, Patented, 100% Blackout, Pink

I rarely ever write reviews, but this sleep mask is so awesome I felt compelled to express my gratitude. First off, I’m extremely picky about quality and products doing what they claim. Secondly, my head is on the smaller side so finding a mask that doesn’t fall off can be tricky. I looked at so many sleep masks and read tons of reviews before this one ended up in my cart. I work 12 hr night shift, so blocking out light for sleep (even with black out shades) is of the utmost importance. I generally have a tough time with things in my face or head and can’t even sleep with my hair down due to being a light sleeper, so finding a mask that isn’t irritating was also important. This mask blocks out 100% of light (even with all the lights on) it lifts completely off your eyes, so you can open your eyes and blink with the mask on. I wear false eyelashes so finding an eye mask that worked with lashes was also important to me. This mask fits my head without falling off and is completely adjustable. It can be made very small, medium, or even large. It is great quality all around. You can tell as soon as you open up the nice box and feel it. This mask is NOT some cheap junky piece of material with velcro. It is high quality, completely adjustable, and does not contain any velcro (many do and don’t last). This mask is not irritating to wear and the fact I can completely open and close my eyes without them even grazing the material is awesome. The price point for this product is an amazing deal in my opinion. I will be buying more for gifts to my fellow night shifter friends and a back up for myself in case I travel and lose it. If you wear a sleep mask and are in the market for a new one you can’t lose getting this one. Don’t even bother looking at the others. Tried 5 different 'side sleeper mask' and this one was the best fit for me. Even in broad daylight, once I wear this it's instant blackout. Pitch dark perfect. I understand it's also a function of biology, with your nose bridge and everything. For my Asian nose, it was perfect. As for the lashes, While I don't have fake lashes, the cups allow you to completely open your eyes without your lashes touching the cups. So your fake lashes should be safe. No eye pressure whatsoever. Side sleeping, no problem because the band is thin enough. It does ride a bit on your earlobes so that took a bit of getting used to. Not painful by any means. Material is 10/10 good quality. So if you're looking for a complete darkness even under the sun, this is your best bet. In fact, I bought 2 extra because this is something I cannot leave without. Highly recommended. Price, function, form and quality - this beats the rest.

This is my 1st purchase of a sleep mask. I bought it for an international flight. I researched them all before I settled on the ALASKA BEAR brand. I am so glad I bought this one. It is SO soft, blocks out all the light and has a super soft contour fit that snugs your eyes. It really helped me relax and tune out others, especially when the person in front or behind opens their window shade to a bright sun when the rest of the cabin is dark. I will give these as gifts this year.

Received 12/22, use daily. Con: Only issue is the nose contour is very short, so when it's in correct place on your nose (for me anyway) you get some light bleed around the baffle and the eye contours end up a little high to be totally useful keeping the band off your eyelashes because the bottom edge ends up right on the edge of the eye socket bone. And this also causes the mask to ride up if you toss much in the night. To solve the light bleed/riding up, you have to set the nose further down the bridge of your nose, which I don't like personally of that minor pressure on the bridge of my nose. It appears the 'updated' version the nose contour is longer/higher so maybe this solved this issue. Pro: Very!! soft, 99% light blocking (slight light bleed around nose as noted in other reviews). Perfect for side sleepers. Side bands are broad enough to cover the ear (not block sound) and soft so no pressure on ear at all, so no more bruising on the ears for the hard core side sleeper! And the tightners for the band are on the back NOT right at the temple/cheek/ear and are unnoticeable. So again, no more bruises on temple or ear for the side sleeper! And hold their tension throughout the night. Basically, for me, this fixed every issue I've encountered with sleep bands and side sleeping. My only issue is the nose contour size, and I'm not a big person (5'0). I love this band and will continue to use daily, though likely wouldn't buy again. But am considering the 'updated' version because I'd like to love this 100% rather than just a little less.

I first looked into this sleep mask because it looked unique in that there was more fabric coverage down around the nose (like a true blindfold), and I thought that would be great for blocking out a lot of light. But just a disclaimer, the mask shown in the pictures (as of today, 3/9/23) is the ORIGINAL model. The newer model (which is what I received) is more contoured around the nose, without that additional fabric flap. After reading through some other recent reviews, I saw that if I were to reach out to the company directly, there was a good chance that they might send me one of the original models if they still had it in stock. Spoiler alert, they DID send me the original model! So 5 stars for customer service for Alaska Bear, hooray for a company that actually cares! (I cannot say the same for another sleep mask company, Bucky, as the mask I recently bought from them literally started falling apart a few months after I began using it, and I tried reaching out to them multiple times with no response). So, my overall review after comparing both models... in an unforseen plot twist, the newer contoured model actually blocks MORE light than the original. With the original model, the extra fabric flap seems to hold the mask further from your face, which allows more light in. Maybe if there was more fabric it would just pool around your nose a bit more, but it's taut enough that your nose holds the mask away from your face just enough to let additional light in at the bottom. So for anyone who may be disappointed that the mask they received looks different than the one pictured, don't be! The newer model is actually an improvement, in my opinion. My overall review of this mask (the newer model) is that it really seems like a high quality product. The fabric is super soft and overall it is very comfortable. There is no Velcro to tangle in your hair, and the adjustment clasps are slim enough that I literally can't even feel them when I'm lying on my side OR my back. Also, the seams are SEWN, rather than glued or heat sealed, so it likely won't start falling apart the way several of the other cheaper masks seem to do these days (just click on review photos for other masks you are considering, that should tell you if it's an issue or not). And I think it fits more comfortably and blocks more light then any other mask I've tried in the past. So I'm likely a convert for life now, I genuinely love it this mask!!!

I use a nose cushion cpap mask (Dreamware) and the air from the nosepiece always ricochets off of my pillow (I am a side sleeper), blowing into my eyes. I wake up at least once each night and in the morning my eyes feel dry. I got this mask to try to solve this problem. The mask is large; when I put it on, the lower parts on each side of my nose rest on top of the edges of the nose cushion and cpap mask below my eyes. Some light isn't blocked, because the cpap mask lets light through, but it keeps the air off of my eyes and I am sleeping through the night. The light blocking doesn't matter to me.

Quality item. Soft. Washes well. Gives a total blacked out effect!

I have the blue one, in the "new" model with less fabric at the nose. Purchased about 2 months ago. When this fits properly, it's amazing. Even though it seems like it doesn't have enough coverage at first, it sort of seats itself into place over your eyes/bridge of your nose to block out all light and you don't have to fiddle with it to get it in place like a lot of other sleep masks. It doesn't move around much at night and I don't wake up at sunrise because light has leaked through. I love it... Except I have it adjusted to as tight as it will go and it's too big to fit as snugly as it needs to to accomplish all this reliably. It moves around and thus doesn't do its job at all. I have an average head! (I normally wear a M fitted baseball cap.) It's just... made for larger heads than average? If I have my hair in a thick braid while sleeping, that adds enough bulk to the back of my head for it to be snug and that's how I know it's amazing when it fits. But even then, since it's as tight as it will go, this means I can't adjust it tighter in the future when the elastic inevitably starts to stretch out over time. I love ALASKA BEAR sleep masks. I have another model that works great and came to buy a new one because I was travelling at the time and figured it couldn't hurt to have a backup. Saw this model and decided to give it a try instead of buying a second of the one I had. Fiddled with it on my month-long trip and couldn't return once I'd gotten home. This one would undoubtedly be my new main mask at home except for this issue so I think I'll buy another to see if maybe I just got a dud that was sized wrong? Will update if that fits better!

Nice silk sleep mask. Lightweight, smooth, and soft. Totally covered light. The adjustable strap makes sizing easily. Had a nice sleep on flight.

I’m really happy with this sleep mask! It’s very comfortable to wear, soft on the skin, and blocks out the light really well. I was surprised by how much it actually helped me relax and fall asleep faster. I sometimes have trouble falling asleep, especially when there is even a little bit of light in the room, but this mask makes a noticeable difference. It creates a dark and calming environment and helps me switch off and get ready for sleep. It also stays comfortably in place during the night without feeling too tight or putting pressure around my eyes. The material feels nice and lightweight, so I barely notice I’m wearing it. Overall, I really like this sleep mask and I’ve been sleeping better since I started using it. I would definitely recommend it to anyone who has trouble falling asleep or is sensitive to light. Great quality and very useful!

Súper suave, hace un black out completo, muy cómodo. Mejora mucho tu calidad de sueño y cuanto tardas en dormir. Se me hacía incluso un poco caro al comprarlo, pero vale cada peso.

Little bit chunky and let's light in when I lay on my side. Was prepared to pay for a premium product but this isn't much better than my cheaper mask it was replacing. Just ok.
