Does the white fabric block sunlight like the darker shade colors?

Since I don't have the darker colored fabric, I can't answer this undisputedly. I can tell you that I've used it (the white fabric model) in the heat of July, 100ºF here in New Mexico and it gave wonderful shade. The material is thick enough.

Can the legs be closed in to make the base 9x9 not 11x11?

Dear Customer, Our product is inclined leg, so the base can only be 11x11 ft.

Do the legs have to be out at an angle or can they be straight up and down still at 9x9?

Dear Customer, It should be extended out at an angle, not in a vertical way to extend the length of the leg tube.

Can this be used on a deck?

Dear Customer, This canopy can be used on top of the deck. But you need to pay attention to whether the canopy can be put down on the deck when it is opened. At the same time, if the wind is strong on the deck, I suggest you buy four sandbags to fix the canopy.
