How do you prevent the non-enameled areas (like the edge of the lid) from rusting?

The black areas are not raw. They are coated with porcelain enamel as well. Its matte black enamel. If you have immediate rust forming there is a defect in your item.

Is this pfoa and chemical free?

When I asked the web site - Gibson Home 109450.10 Eco-Friendly Hummington Aluminum Cookware Set Charcoal exteriors with Ceramic Non-Stick Interiors, White - was the only one it came up with afoa free - had jockey what pfoa meant - thanks!

Does anyone have problems with food sticking in the enameled cast iron?

If something sticks just some hot water and dawn gets it off

No. It’s made out of cast iron which is not used in any microwave. If you do..... prepare yourself a Fourth of July show after you push that start button.
