Midwest Hearth 100% Natural Lava Stones for Gas Fire Pit and Fireplace (Small (1/2" - 1"))

I didn't want to spend the money for these lava rocks. You can get your typical red jagged lava rock pretty cheap, but I generally don't find this color, size, or shape locally. So I went ahead and spent the money, and happy I did. These rocks look fantastic in the fish tank, especially against a light sand substrate. Added bonus is that the pours promote the growth of beneficial bacteria. They do come out of the bag extremely dusty and look much lighter. I gave them a quick rinse in tap water and put them right in the tank.

I have used these every weekend since I purchased them (2 months ago). I keep them in my fire pit until they glow, and then I use them for smudging. They are beautiful, and they work great. Excellent stones, I will definitely be buying more!

Not sure if they are good for fire pits—but didn’t buy them for that reason. I got them for a Opae Ula shrimp tank. Boiled them a few times and stuck them in my aquarium. No issues. They look amazing! My shrimps are happy.
