Getting ready to paint a plastic canoe. Will this product work well for that?

Without knowing the type of plastic the canoe is made of I can’t say for sure. It’s designed to be sprayed on, then the paint applied between 5 and 15 minutes. When used on my door panels, I can only guess that it has helped with the adhesion since there have been no spots where the paint has chipped off. SEM is a great product line. I would recommend using this product to prep the canoe before painting, especially since it will be in water

Should the sem 39863 aerosol can have a rattle ball in it? have shaken it multiple times and it does not seem to have one??

Mine also does not have a rattle ball. I got it a couple of years ago. Worked great. I'm guessing its doesn't separate as much in the can; so it does need it.

I have chrome plastic grill trim which I want to paint black. Will this work if I scuff the plastic, use adhesion promoter, primer a black paint

I have tried every adhesion promoter out there. I have sanded the Chrome completely dull. First a small rock chip then the wicking under the finish and now you have a chrome grille all jacked up with scratches and patches of black. Take my word for it just buy a black grille. I have been in the industry since 1980. Nothing sticks to chrome. Period.

Works as stated.

I painted a couple filler panels between tank and fairings on my Honda motorcycle. I used this as it was recommended by SEM, also the maker of the top coat I had chosen. It goes on thin so no real buildup in thickness of the paint which is desirable. If you follow directions it will not run. I top coated using multiple light coats and the result is a professional looking paint job. These products are not cheap but sometimes you have to do it right when painting a high value project. I would recommend this product to anyone.

Performed amazingly.

Did its job helping me epoxy and patch a hole in a plastic bumper on a 2020 Traverse. I've done similar jobs without using this and I can say the adhesion time was noticeably quicker and cured out stronger as far as I can tell.
