It is a safe unit , it will go into safe mode off in 10 minutes if cut on accidently ! There is no voltage on clamps when cut on , it must be connected to the battery for 30 seconds to sense the draw from the battery before it gives voltage to the battery ! When the battery boost starts the engine the booster cuts off immediately to stop a overload on the Ion battery and does not charge from the now running car ! The many misconceptions of how these jump boosters work had me clear up a few misconceptions . Do not expect to run any 12 volt devices with the jump booster , it only works on 12 volt car & truck batteries because of smart technologies used safely is a must for ion batteries which can be flammable if misused ! My truck battery failed to start my truck after 4 days of below 20 degrees during the 2022 Christmas artic air wave came ! I hooked up the SL 1562 jump starter and cut it on and waited 30 seconds and turned the key and it really turned over very fast and strong and started so i cut off the jumper and letting the truck warm up the battery and hopefully it will only take 40-50 minutes to change after warming ! That jumper had plenty of power too turn a very cold 5.0 liter engine over very fast ! I am impressed , i think it would jump start several vehicles in a row without charging but i reccomend charging it asap !

Works great on all my farm equipment. Starts about 6 boost out of one charge. I keep in my 2500 for emergencies

I have had a few similar products in the $50-60 range and the air compressor failed on all of them after a few years and very little use. So, I bought this one for about $123 thinking the higher price would bring better reliability but, alas, the compressor failed at about 3 years! The jumper still works so now I am thinking of buying a separate tire inflator but will have to carry two devices instead of one. Over the 3 years, I used the compressor about 10-15 times so it did not get a lot of use. I do not recommend this product.

There are plenty of power bank jump starters on Amazon - though most of them don't have an air compressor. I couldn't really tell you how safe any of them are, because some lithium battery chemistries are more dangerous than others, and starting a car requires a ton of current. Then there are the issues of swollen battery cells, questionable BCMs, and more. So, what's a risk averse consumer to do? I got a Schumacher Electric SL1562 4-in-1 Lithium Portable Power Station and Jump Starter. I've purchased other Schumacher products in the past, and I've come to trust the brand. While it's possible that the SL1562 is just a white-label product with no special pedigree, I choose to believe that Schumacher would not risk their brand reputation on poorly engineered or poorly built products. What does $128 (with $12 off coupon, at the time of this review) get you? You get a unit with reasonably solid build quality. I think it's a plus that the jump cables are permanently attached, as the detachable ones on some units are inherently more prone to extreme heat or fire (even when fused). The battery bank function is a throw in, and is mediocre at best (no USB PD or QC charging). The compressor is loud and slow, but it works just fine. I've jumped two vehicles with the unit so far (1.6T I4, and 3.8T V6) with no issues. The only thing I don't like is the cable stowage. Well, and I think it would be nice if the unit used LiFePo chemistry, rather than LiPo. I'm sure the price may be a show-stopper for anyone that's looking at cheaper options. For my part, I don't really even care that much about the compressor - I just wanted a little more peace of mind from a larger unit that MAY have a better BMS and cell storage concept. I'll update this review if I run into any performance, safety, or longevity issues. For now, I recommend this unit.

It’s lightweight, but it jumps cars easily. In my experience, you just need to follow the instructions and recharge it after each use. The manual also suggests recharging it once a month if it isn't used, so I set a monthly calendar reminder for that
