Great Product But Paired better with insurance.
When it was new in 2022 it packed a punch it was fast, Easy to function, strong signal quality, Beautifully designed worked with new and older devices so didn’t have any compatibility issues, has options to adjust bands to work with older wireless devices, But after 2 years of usage after that first year that final year it just started to become a bit unstable needed to be restarted more frequently was getting a bit warmer then to the point when the device just ultimately failed, It was and is a great router but definitely was good I chose the 3 yrs protection plan when purchasing Asurion they covered me and reimbursed the full cost and I went back with Asus brand Rog-Be98 PRO , But 2 years is rather normal for one to stop working under high usage , I would recommend this product For a low priced good gaming router , I loved every minute of how this big guy performed everyday 24/7 2 years and 2 months managed to hold 25+ devices continuously alot of download and upload continuously , download speeds my internet provider of 2 gigs 50 up I would see 2125.16 Down and 52.60 Up Continuously on this device even till the very end it performed spectacular I would recommend for a home that is a light to moderate gamer but if you have multiple gaming devices running at once it will last about the same time but I think it could last longer for a moderate gamer I wouldn’t say this is a high end gaming router but will get the job done

No longer messing around, dominating the airways.
I do not normally write reviews. I have been in IT for more than 20 years at large corporations and I rarely get impressed with anything that says WiFi. That said, I want to recommend this product to anyone who has had issues with their home WiFi connections. I live in a smart home with more than 100 2.4Ghz connections and ~50 5.0Ghz connections. This product combined with two ZenWIFI AirMesh hubs has completely transformed the wireless experience. If your done messing around and want to dominate the air with actual power, the GT-AXE16000 is not a joke. Everything running on 5.0Ghz is now pushing 900Mbs consistently with little to no deviation from that median mark. All of the security cameras are on their own 2.4Ghz channels separated from all the handheld devices. Nothing has dropped or reported more than a fraction of a second of loss. Netgear is no longer the boss.

Great router if not using aimesh.
Worked great when it was the sole router. Couldn't get it to recognize my asus ax11000 router as a wired backhaul node. Had to return this due to this issue. Solid router when not using it with aimesh.

Best home purchase I’ve made
Honestly was a huge help. My house is a bit larger with thick walls and getting everything connected to the WiFi without drops was difficult. This made it easy and quick. The app is user friendly and allows for multiple channels and guests set up. You can change your priorities for either gaming or streaming with the push of a button. Highly recommend.

Purchased on Cyber Monday 2024 and have no regrets
The ASUS ROG Rapture GT-AXE16000 is hands-down one of the most fun and powerful routers I've ever used, and as an IT nerd, it's been an absolute joy to have in my home network. What really stands out is how reliably it performs, the regular dual-band has had no random drops, no unexplained slowdowns, and solid connectivity day in and day out. The feature set is where it truly shines, with top-tier security thanks to AiProtection Pro, built-in VPN support for remote access, DDNS for hosting my own services, and granular client management that lets me fine-tune everything. And let’s talk about ports—two 10Gbps, a 2.5Gbps, and four 1Gbps ports..... I feel like I’m actually seeing the speeds I pay for, both wired and wireless, which is satisfying especially with two people working from home. That said, it’s not perfect. The dedicated IoT network has been a headache—some of my smart home devices just refuse to connect or drop randomly, and I still can’t tell if it’s the router or my ISP causing the issues. It’s frustrating, especially when everything else works so flawlessly. But even with that gripe, I’d still highly recommend this router. It’s overkill for most homes, but if you love networking tech and want a router that feels like it’s from the future, this one delivers. It’s expensive, flashy, and it’s absolutely worth it if you’re the kind of person who gets excited about stuff like 10Gbps ports and Wi-Fi 6E. A nearly perfect router for power users. Might want to pair it with a decent WAP however depending on IoT issues.

Requires user to relinquish privacy for functionality
Update: I have owned this for about 9 months. I just went to login to it and got this notice: "ASUS collects personal data in order to run and improve the products and/or services. You can visit the privacy settings page at "Administration > Policy" to change how this personal data is shared. Some personal data may also be shared with third parties for the above purposes. If you choose <Decline>, this Software or Interface may not work correctly, as personal data is needed for some essential functions."***** I chose <Decline> then got this:NoticePlease be advised that disagreeing with ASUS PRIVACY NOTICE may result in the inability to update to the latest firmware version and unable to receive the most up-to-date protection on your ASUS networking products; However, to protect the security of your router and ensure the compliance with laws, for upgrades addressing important security issues or meeting legal/regulatory requirements , those upgrades will still be downloaded and installed automatically.Declining certain information may limit the functionality of the following features that rely on that information.Account BindingConfig transferDDNSAlexaIFTTTGoogle AssistantRemote ConnectionNotificationAFCASUS Expert Site ManagerI can't recommend it, and now regret my purchase. I did not pay $360 (plus tax) for this router, to be spied upon. And for that kind of money, I expect updates to be available without having to relinquish my privacy to Asus, not to mention to unknown entities. This has a reported Broadcom driver WAN-related speed degradation issue that is common to ASUS routers. They have known about this for years. Merlin firmware will not fix this. Expect to reboot every few days, or even a few times a day, depending on what kind and how much traffic. If you want to use VOIP, keep your conversations to 30 minutes or less. This router doesn't pass SIP refresh packets. So your call will end silently if using SIP. This is supposed to be a router. Shop around for another brand and do your research. This thing is kinda' squirelly. I updated to the latest firmware, then within an hour it said another update was available 3.0.0.6- etc. But the version number seemed the same- there is a minor, minor version number that could be different. Every time I changed something in Admin, I had to fight it to login again. At one point I thought I'd have to do a factory reset. But after about 20 minutes of messing around, cycling power, etc, I was able to get back in. It also gave me some nutso behavior when I setup my fourth Guest network, and wouldn't give me a VLAN ID for it. I wound up deleting that one and starting over.I've been using ASUS router exclusively for about 15 years (I tried a Netgear one for a few years, and tried then returned a TP-Link). So, I am pretty familiar with the UI. The VLAN stuff is new to me, but not too hard to deal with. This router can fight back- so hopefully they'll fix a bunch of stuff.Another odd thing- all the Guest clients show up in the network map, then when I go to a Guest WiFi LAN to look at the ones for it, some have disappeared. Sometimes refreshing the page helps, sometimes not. So, I took off a couple of stars.I don't think that 2.4GHz has beamforming. But we get gangbuster speeds on 5GHz just about everywhere in our house.

Beast of a router! Great Feature Set! Fast Performance!
The GT-AXE16000 is a great router in my experience with it thus far. The coverage of the Wi-Fi is good in the lower spec bands, 2.4G / 5G / but is very short on devices accessing the 6G band. The performance of the unit itself is excellent and using the Ai-Mesh feature to connect to my other ASUS router, it adequately provides whole home coverage. The 2.5G WAN port is great connected to the 2G fiber service I have and can consume all of it. The addition of twin 10G LAN ports plus the standard quad 1G ports has helped me expand my backbone to 10G throughout the home. It is a great companion to my GT-AX6000 router acting as an Ai-Mesh AP partner to it. It has a great software interface providing all the necessary elements for enhanced gaming and protection for your network. It is not however a small device so have adequate space to place it where you will use it. Like other ASUS network products I have purchased it does a great job of making sure it is running the latest firmware for itself and its Ai-Mesh partner. In addition to the good performance, the device has a failover feature to an alternate ISP source if one is available to keep your network up and running when the primary ISP stops responding. This has happened to me recently and the router did the quick switch to the backup WAN and nothing missed a beat. Super feature! Thus far a rock solid addition to my home network. I could not rate the Tech Support part of the review as I have had no issues with the unit thus far.

Disappointing Durability and Service for High-End Asus ROG Routers
I recently purchased two Asus ROG AXE16000 routers with high expectations given their premium price point and the reputable brand behind them. However, my experience has been far from satisfactory. Both routers ceased functioning within the first year, which was a major letdown considering their supposed high quality and durability. The process that followed was even more frustrating. I sent both routers for repair, and it has been one and a half months with no resolution in sight. The lack of timely updates and the extended repair time have significantly inconvenienced me, disrupting my work and daily activities that rely heavily on a stable internet connection.I had high hopes for these routers, especially given Asus' reputation in the tech industry and the premium I paid, expecting top-notch performance and reliability. Unfortunately, the product's durability and the subsequent service have been disappointing. It's disheartening to encounter such issues with a brand that I trusted for quality and excellence. This experience has made me reconsider my future purchases from Asus, especially for their high-end products. I hope this review helps others to weigh the service and product reliability aspects carefully before investing in such expensive equipment.
