Are they individually wrapped?

Each dig stone is individually shrink wrapped. The other stuff is bulk packaged. The ONLY thing this set has going for it is the pretty pink color. Otherwise this set is more expensive and dramatically inferior to a different brand we purchased which had tan cubes. Samples are substantially smaller and unquestionably lower quality, and educational material is minimal. I was actually moved to write a review comparing both, and I will be trying to edit them to add pictures shortly.

How do you dig the items after soaking them?

If you soak them, you will not have to dig them. The block will become extremely soft, and you would be able to just break it apart with your fingers. I will add that I do not recommend this particular kit. I did a review that is a comparison of this and another brand, and we found the other brand to be both far superior and less expensive.
